Diego Sanchez
Diego "Nightmare" Sánchez is a mixed martial artist with a background in wrestling and Gaidojutsu - a system of submission wrestling developed by Greg Jackson. He won a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship after winning the first season of the reality show, The Ultimate Fighter.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on December 31, 1981, Sánchez began practicing martial arts at age 9 and started wrestling in 6th grade. As a senior at Del Norte High School, Sánchez won the state wrestling championship in the 152-pound weight class. Less than a year after graduating high school, Sánchez began training in mixed martial arts with Greg Jackson at Jackson’s Gaidojutsu.
Sánchez won his most recent fight that took place on August 17th at UFC Fight Night 6 on Spike TV against Karo Parisyan. It was a unanimous decision in 3 complete rounds. It is speculated (on UFC's own broadcasts) that Sanchez is the next in line to get a shot at the UFC Welterweight title, the winner of Matt Hughes vs. Georges St. Pierre at UFC 63.
