Selino

Selino is a province and historical region of Greece on the island of Crete. It is located in the remote southwestern corner of the island, in Chania Prefecture. It is a rugged and remote area in the foothills of the Lefka Ori (White Mountains).
The province is divided into three municipalities:
The region's name derives from the Venetian castle at Paleochora, 'Kastello Selino'. Paleochora, now a resort, and the capital Kandanos are the two principal towns in Selino. Sougia is a small but growing resort.
