Tucumcari, New Mexico
Tucumcari is a city located in Quay County, New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,989. It is the county seat of Quay County6.

Tucumcari is located at 35°10'10" North, 103°43'32" West (35.169453, -103.725488)1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 19.6 km² (7.6 mi²). 19.5 km² (7.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.13% is water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 5,989 people, 2,489 households, and 1,607 families residing in the city. The population density is 306.7/km² (793.8/mi²). There are 3,065 housing units at an average density of 156.9/km² (406.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 75.87% White, 1.29% African American, 1.39% Native American, 1.20% Asian, 0.22% Pacific Islander, 17.10% from other races, and 2.94% from two or more races. 51.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,489 households out of which 29.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.4% are married couples living together, 15.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.4% are non-families. 31.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.35 and the average family size is 2.93.
