Welcome to Cyrillic Talk

Greetings everyone, feel free to voice your opinions and suggestions

Hi, you appear to have uploaded Image:Marayoor2.jpg. It is currently marked as {{copyrighted}}, which means we would have to delete the picture as it would not be free for people to reproduce. However, it appears that you re-uploaded the image with the {{PD-user}} tag, but this does not appear on the page. If you did create the image and intend to release it in this fashion, would you mind going to the image description page and editing it with the correct tag to confirm this? Thank you. --Michael Snow 22:19, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for mentioning it, the picture was taken by me and I was intention was giving the copyright to Wikipedia, but I misread the --copyright--tag, I apologize and will change the tag immediately. --Cyril Thomas 13:27, 1 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing it. --Michael Snow 15:47, 1 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Marayoor

No, I wasn't asking for the district name :D. Please in the future would you use the + sign on top of the page to post a new message. Thanks. Posting on top is considered a little annoying by some. I see you've not been welcomed to the Indian group, so let me welcome you formally, and I'll list some India-related links below: Regards, User:Nichalp/sg 13:44, September 1, 2005 (UTC)

It's really an outstanding work. I wish I could do something like that for my home town :-) Tintin

Thanks for voting for me in RFB. Your images are pretty good. I have a suggestion: instead of uploading it here in the English wikipedia, I strongly suggest you upload it in commons:, so that it can be embedded in all wikimedia projects. All the images on the India page are from commons. You'd need to create an account there first. I'd also suggest you put some of your best work up for featured status here. Thanks User:Nichalp/sg 04:54, September 2, 2005 (UTC)

Your image is featured in portal:India! User:Nichalp/sg 10:35, September 4, 2005 (UTC)

Thank you User:Nichalp/sg for your kind effort, much appreciated. --Cyril Thomas 18:28, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nice to meet you

I saw a message posted by you in the talk page of User:Nichalp and came here to greet you. I have seen most of Kerala and it is really a beautiful state. Your edits are also nice. --Bhadani 14:56, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Bhadrani for the kind words

Thanks

Hi Cyril:
Thanks for support and your confidence in me in my recent RFB nomination. I'm now WP's newest bureaucrat. :) Regards, User:Nichalp/sg 19:58, September 6, 2005 (UTC)

The image you uploaded of Robert Ressler lacks source and licensing information. We are currently deleting all such images, so you should go update it if you are able. Thanks! --Gmaxwell 11:13, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Changed the tag, thank you for the information

Image:Dashiell Hammett.gif has been listed for deletion

An image file you uploaded, Image:Dashiell Hammett.gif, has been listed as subject to immediate deletion because it lacks a image source tag. No problem Cyrillic. Adding the oldpeerreview tag is standard practice when archiving old reviews. Cheers! Christopher Parham (talk) 19:10, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Agentcorrigancomic.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Steve block talk 21:07, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Agent Corrigan

Thank you so much Steve, I changed it to "{GFDL-presumed}". Hope that will be enough. Thanks again. --Cyril Thomas 11:32, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

No, that's definitely the wrong tag, the image will definitely have a copyright holder who would object to any suggestion that it had been released under the GDFL. What is required is to track down the websitre you uploaded it in from and enter that information on the image description page. Then the no source tag can be removed. Thanks in advance, Steve block talk 14:20, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Okay Steve, Let me search for the website. As soon as I find it, I will let you know. Thanks ! --Cyril Thomas 13:07, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The picture lacks information on source and creator. This is needed to verify its license status, which you say is GFDL. --149.229.97.199 16:16, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your suggestion, however there is a problem, the picture was scanned from a decades old Indian newspaper (The Hindu) clipping, becuase it is a clipping I couldn't trace back the date. I added it in the summary , hope it will do. Thanks again. --Cyril Thomas 18:25, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Idukkimapwiki.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for uploading Image:Cyril.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 22:15, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Cyriloreilly.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Cyriloreilly.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:06, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to the project! Be sure to check out the Project Home page. It's just starting up, so any help that would be great. Maybe add yourself to the "Members" list on the right. :) -- Shane (talk/contrib) 18:22, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My work on the main FBI could use some more help to get the article to WP:FA status. Think you can look over the article and suggestions so there is another set of eyes work on it? -- Shane (talk/contrib) 20:18, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I will be checking the page. --Cyril Thomas 10:24, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cyrilic, this image is missing information on who the original photographer was and where he gave his permission to use it under the GFDL. Scanning a picture from a newspaper unfortunately doesn't give you the right to put it under a free license by yourself. --88.134.45.6 02:07, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi wikifriend, Thanks for your mail, I am sorry I used the wrong tag. I actually scanned it from a comic book flap, and unfortunately they didn't give any information except a logo of froost or something like that. I don't remember, because I scanned it while I was a student, and an ardent fan of Asterix comics :). Well, I just changed the licencing tag to -Comiccover Hope that would settles it. Thanks again. --Cyril Thomas 17:14, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
