• Parenthood - needs npoving, wikification, context, formatting, and categories. Neutrality (hopefully!) 22:32, Oct 30, 2004 UTC)
• List of colonial governors in 1778 Messy... incomplete. Copyediting as well. Estel
• Slaughterhouse - shamelessly NPOV, and it looks like some useful info has been removed. Ppe42
• Now significantly reworked and a bit more balanced. -- Solipsist 09:48, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
• Oregon, My Oregon Peter O. (Talk)
• Shuffle - needs some copyediting (especially in Randomization section) and some wikification. -- Mgm|(talk)
• Haute-Savoie: the Bonneville link leads to a disambiguation page (most of the entries for which have not been done).
• Kdu college--Malaysian university needs de-adverting, wikifying. I'd do it myself, but I'm not sure if this is the right title. Meelar (talk)
• David Vetter - quite nicely said, this looks like a Mad Lib. This needs much more research and proper Wiki write-up. I added the birth and death dates, which is a big change from the previous bit, saying he lived in "the sixties". Mike H
• Category:Manitoba politicians: Minor point: many biographies (110/260?) in this category don't mention the person's date or year of birth. -- User:Docu
• As the person who created most of these biographies, I can tell you that the dobs were not always available. I included this information wherever possible, and left it pending otherwise.
• I'd appreciate it if someone (or some people) would fill in the birthdates for the individual biographies, but this information isn't always easy to obtain -- besides which, it doesn't really have anything to do with the category page itself. I've removed the cleanup notice for these reasons, though I wouldn't object to a request for information notice being raised on this subject. CJCurrie 00:41, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
• I agree that the "cleanup" notice on the category was not ideal, but might have been the easiest solution. Maybe a list of the biographies that could use the additional information is better. I added the category as it's one of the five categories with the most articles where I couldn't find the information for People by year. This is really minor, but, as most of them are contemporaries and candidates in elections, I would have thought the year of birth may be easily available. Naturally the information needing to be published about a candidate varies from one country to another and, as you already researched the individuals, we might directly remove the category from Cleanup. -- User:Docu
• List_of_stations_of_the_Paris_M%E9tro The stations, except a few, shouldn't have their own page. Isn't there a map of the Paris Metro? Peter O. (Talk)
• The talk page has a big discussion about this problem from an old VfD. Someone went in and fired off pages for all of them, now they sit stagnant. Half a year ago there was much talk, but nothing was done - the VfD essentially didn't go through. If the deletion call succeeded, you'd probably end up with something like the TTC subway, which I prefer, personally - stations are listed on a page for their line, rather than a page for every station. The other extreme is the London Underground approach. The difference between the Paris and London pages, of course, is that there were enough Londoners (and there was possibly enough history) to flesh out a good number of the London station pages... Any volunteers for Paris? Krupo
• Made redirects, but upon inspection they turned out to be ill-formed. Peter O. (Talk) 03:41, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)
• Systems Commonwealth. Also listed on Copyvio but, assuming it doesn't get toasted, it could do with splitting up. The article isn't just about the Systems Commonwealth (from the TV series Andromeda), but about the whole storyline and backplot. — OwenBlacker 05:06, Oct 30, 2004 (UTC)

List of 1500 malformed wiki brackets for cleanup

I've got a list of wiki pages with malformed syntax - in particular malformed wiki brackets (not closed or opened properly). At first I tried fixing these pages myself, but quickly realised that there were far too many for just one person to do - so I am posting to Cleanup asking for help. For each item there is a link to the article that has the problem, a description of the problem (the type of mismatched brackets), and the beginning of the line that has the problem (so all the problems should hopefully be easy to locate). -- Nickj 00:56, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Today's other items

*Jean-Baptiste Drouet (Napoleonic soldier) - more of a timeline than an article. -R. fiend 16:46, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

• It is in CV style which is perfect for minor Napoleonic players. It is the way that articles are written in the EBII just they wrap them up into paragraphs this way the expansion is easier. Philip Baird Shearer 19:19, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
• Bouches-du-Rhône - Istres prefecture leads to the air base of that name, rather than the place with which it is associated.
• Guild of One-Name Studies - notable organisations, it's also one that I belong to (!), just needs wikifying. I'd do it myself but I don't have time just now. -- Graham ☺ | Talk 13:01, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
• Oradour-sur-Glane - now consists primarily of what seems to be a highly improvisational Nazi justification of an atrocity Nunh-huh 04:29, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
• Now severely edited down and hopefully NPOV'd-- please review the changes. -- The Anome 01:49, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)
• Much improved now. There's still the problem that we explicitly give one POV (killing a village of men, women, and children is a good tactical move that saves valuable German lives, which are the ones that really count) without explicitly giving the other (the lives of French children are at least as valuable as those of Nazi soldiers, and soldiers killing unarmed civilian children is a bad thing.) - Nunh-huh 18:37, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
• Saint Dominguito del Val - Would like an NPOV rendering of the event. Peter O. (Talk) 02:51, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)
• Born in Flames: Needs editing into Wikipedia NPOV style: at the moment it's advocacy. -- The Anome 02:11, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
• Cleaned quite a bit. Took out as much POV as I could without compromising too much of the film's theme (from what I could tell; I haven't seen it. someone who has should probably check it too). -R. fiend 18:05, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
• Vitor Belfort Needs much copyediting and wikification. --LeeHunter 18:26, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

• Incarnations of Immortality - needs copyediting badly. Could use some more information other than spoileriffic plot synopses, plus a lot of wikification. Copyedited "On a Pale Horse" and "With a Tangled Skein" sections, but needs a lot of attention from someone who has read the other books recently. Munkymu Oct 25, 2004
• 3dmm - unwikified text dump. I'm convinced this is a copyvio, but I can't find where from. RickK 05:11, Oct 25, 2004 (UTC)
• Oera Linda - The book itself is almost suredly a hoax. The atricle does not make this clear. See http://www.earth-history.com/Europe/eur-oera-intro.htm http://www.nsm88.com/articles/oeralindabook.html and others. If this book is going to shake up the known history of Europe, why doesn't the article tell us what it says? RickK 04:56, Oct 25, 2004 (UTC)
• Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg - Not an encyclopedia article at the moment, in that it talks entirely about his role in the Valmy campaign. Plus, it's at the wrong place, since he was Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Plus, Duke of Brunswick oddly redirects there...and so forth. -- john k 04:52, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)
• Politics of Hong Kong - Need to update and refactor the summary of the Article 23 controversy. Need to Tidy information imported from the CIA factbook. The lists of political parties, leaders, and pressure groups should be merged with List of political parties in Hong Kong. It would be nice to have short summaries on the list page of their positions, but the NPOV requirement may make terse summaries problematic. -- Beland 04:33, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)
• Hong Kong Basic Law Article 23 needs to be re-factored. Right now, it's too much of a chronology of news events. It also needs (another) copyedit and NPOV/fact check. See the talk page for more notes. -- Beland 01:02, 25 Oct 2004 (UTC)

• No, he's being portrayed as a dentist. The whole thing appears high on the bogosity scale. Why they do this I don't know. -R. S. Shaw 10:24, 2004 Oct 6 (UTC)
• Evidently a vanity article, "supported" by 2 other articles. The White's sign article is superficially plausible, but the symptom described does not seem to be known as White's sign; that apparently was coined in imitation of the related (and actually used) Battle's Sign. See for instance medhelp. Looks as if persistence was involved. Earlier someone got his "White's sign" and bio (as a dentist) into WhoNamedIt, and this was wildly cited on Wikipedia (as "Laureate" for a while). The second "supporting" article, White's butterfly sign is much more bizarre, relying on a passing mention of a "white butterfly" xray image in a Newsweek article that is used as a reference. Maybe someone was hitting the nitrous oxide too heavily. -R. S. Shaw 23:37, 2004 Oct 6 (UTC)
• The article needs to be deleted - it's bogus. The significance of 'CSF otorrhoea' and 'CSF rhinorrhoea' (always so called) has been known for a long time. I have not tried to research it as a history of medicine topic, but the general belief among the doctors I know is that it goes back probably for centuries. To my certain knowledge, it was part of standard teaching in UK/Commonwealth medical schools in the first half of the 20th century (well before White was born), and even then it was regarded as old knowledge. It is not the sort of sign that needs an eponym, it's too obvious - you crack your skull, you leak CSF, depending on the site of the fracture. I wouldn't be surprised if some recognition of the significance of CSF leaks went back to early Arabic or Greek physicians. Similarly with the effects of concussive injury - this knowledge is not as old, but it's certainly much older than White, and how would a dentist become experienced in blast injury chest radiographs anyway? If someone has introduced these eponyms, they are amazingly ignorant. More likely the whole thing's a spoof - do we have any evidence that White even exists? Rhd 09:21, 2004 Oct 8 (UTC)
• There is some evidence that a person like the one described in the bio at WhoNamedIt exists. The American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology newsletter at aaomp.org lists Fred A. White, DDS of Citra, Florida as a new member, 2002-3. The bio mentions Florida and "West Marion Community Hospital", and Citra, FL is in Marion County. There is a phone number available for a Fred White of Citra. -R. S. Shaw 04:43, 2004 Oct 9 (UTC)

• - IMO this should be merged (history and text) with Inverse surveillance, if only bcz it was incompetantly or maliciously created on top of User:The Anome's move of Sousveillance to Inverse surveillance, in order to resist that (IMO appropriate) move. Any well-informed admin can make that move, but it should IMO not be done w/o a definitive decision that there are not two separate subjects (despite the apparently wide opinion that Sousveillance should only exist as a redir, and the apparent insistence of others that there must be an article by that name). Unless we are prepared to protect the redir from being overwritten, doing the merge could amount to a decision to go thru a long series of increasingly confusing remergings. --Jerzy(t) 07:17, 2004 Oct 6 (UTC)

Quite notable place, actually -- perhaps #1 tourist attraction in New Orleans -- will try to make article reflect that. Geogre 14:27, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

• Graffiti needs some text tightening and info verification in some of the later sections (especially "Aerosol or 'spray can' art", "Graffiti Art Battle", and "Street art"), restoration of some deleted info (see Talk:Graffiti), and trimming of the references and external links. Expansion of the historical section, coverage of the transition into the 20th century, and more on the legal aspects would be neat too. I think this could be a featured article if it gets a little cleanup and expansion. User:Cow 08:03, 2 Oct 2004 (UTC)
