Ricky's Gloves

In both games, Ricky the kangaroo loses his prized boxing gloves. In order for him to accompany Link in his quest, these gloves must first be returned to him. In Oracle of Ages, the gloves are hidden under a random dirt mound on the South Shore. In Oracle of Seasons, Ricky lost them in a fight with Blaino at his gym, and they can only be won back by defeating him in another fight.

Bomb Flower

In Oracle of Ages, this traditional crop of the Gorons is initially held monopolized by the Great Moblin on Rolling Ridge in the Present. Due to his oppressive presence, the Goron inhabitants cannot grow any on their own, but once the Great Moblin is kicked out of his fortress they award Link with a Bomb Flower of his own.

According to Goron legend in the Present, a young boy first gave Bomb Flowers to the Gorons ages ago. When Link returns to the Past with the Bomb Flower and rescues the Goron Elder, this legend is unknowingly fulfilled. This situation presents a cyclic temporal paradox in which the Bomb Flower that Link receives is its own ancestor.

In Oracle of Seasons, a single Bomb Flower is found growing at Lava Lake in Subrosia. It is required to blow the rocks away from the entrance to the Tower of Autumn in the sunken Temple of Seasons.

The Bomb Flower originally appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Maku Seed

Key Items from Oracle of Ages

Graveyard Key

This key, found in a hidden grotto beneath a small burnable tree, opens the gates in Yoll Graveyard and allow access to the first dungeon—Spirit's Grave—and Syrup the Witch's Potion Shop.

Cheval Rope

This rope doesn't rot when it gets wet. Its primary use is for building rafts. Its creator, Cheval, lives in the Past and literally takes the secret behind the rope to his grave. It can be found along with the Zora's Flippers in the Present beneath his gravestone in Yoll Graveyard.

Island Chart

Before Rafton lets Link take the raft out onto the open seas, he must first obtain this Island Chart for navigation. Beyond possessing this item, it has no meaningful purpose and does not alter the regular map in any way.

Scent Seedling

This young sapling is the prize for winning the Wild Tokay game on Crescent Island in the Past. When planted in the tree nursery there in the Past, it will grow into a Scent Tree in the Present.

Cracked Tuni Nut

Due to Veran's influence in the Past, the Tuni Nut of Symmetry City breaks apart, throwing the entire city out of balance and causing volcanoes in the city to erupt violently. In order to save the city from being ruined in the Present, a citizen restricted from leaving and breaking the city's symmetry gives Link the Cracked Tuni Nut to get it fixed.

Tuni Nut

Once the Cracked Tuni Nut is restored by Patch's ceremony, the fixed Tuni Nut must be placed on its altar in the center of Symmetry City in order to restore the city's balance.

Crown Key

This key, awarded to Link by the Goron Elder of Rolling Ridge in the Past, is used to reveal the entrance to Crown Dungeon in the Present, where the fifth Essence of Time is located.

Brother Emblem

A symbol of brotherhood among Gorons, this item is likely a pendant worn around one's neck or a bracelet or armlet. Gorons consider its possessor as one of their own, granting him or her unrestricted access to their home and fun-loving lifestyle.

Rock Brisket

A Goron delicacy available as a prize from the Goron Target Carts game in Present time. It is craved by the Goron guarding the peace of Rolling Ridge in the Present, who is willing enough to trade his precious Goron Vase for it. It is also mistakenly translated as "Rock Sirloin" in the game menu.

Lava Juice

A drink notably tolerable only to Gorons, and perhaps Subrosians, due to its molten hot state. Though it is not widely known, the Graceful Goron drinks Lava Juice every day.

Goron Vase

A priceless heirloom of Goron heritage. The Goron guarding the path to Rolling Ridge Summit in the Past desires it to give his descendants appreciation for their culture. Like the Bomb Flower as it appears in Oracle of Seasons, the Goron Vase is a paradoxical item that cycles through time without ever being notably created—once given to the Goron in the Past, it is assumably passed down to the Goron in the Present, only to be traded for Rock Brisket and brought back in time to restart the cycle. In Oracle of Seasons, it is unrelatedly part of the trading sequence for the Noble or Master Sword upgrades.

Goronade

An energy drink that can revitalize a weary person in an instant. It is received in a trade for the Goron Vase.

Old Mermaid Key

A key required to open Mermaid's Cave in the Present. It is blue and the handle is shaped like a fish's tail fin. It is acquired from winning the Big Bang Game on Rolling Ridge, where it was dug out of the mountain rock. Though it differs in color, it is possibly the same key as the Mermaid Key after 400 years of aging.

Letter of Introduction

In the caves of Rolling Ridge in the Past, an admirer of the Graceful Goron will write this Letter of Introduction for Link in a trade for Lava Juice. Noticing that Link already possesses the Old Mermaid Key, the Goron assumes that he wants the Graceful Goron's Mermaid Key as well, which spurs on the trade.

Mermaid Key

This small, red key with a fish's tail handle is the property of the first generation of the Graceful Gorons in the Past. Although the formal Letter of Introduction from a fellow Goron brother asks for the key point-blank, Link must partake in the Goron Dance in order to win it over.

Mermaid Suit

An upgrade to the Zora's Flippers, the Mermaid Suit allows its wearer to swim freely in the deepest of waters, including the open seas. When diving in these deeper waters, one can stay submerged indefinitely and move about underwater independently. With this added ability one can swim under floating obstacles and also swim from one floor to another without the need for stairs.

Library Key

This key, held safe by King Zora, opens the doors to the Eyeglass Isle Library. The keyhole for the library only exists in the Past, and the library's doors, once opened, stay open from Past to Present.

Book of Seals

The Book of Seals in the Present is the last remaining tome of a set of six books that seal away the Fairy Powder in the back of the Eyeglass Isle Library in the Past. Using it is described as "a true test of courage," because it necessitates trust in the book over natural appearances as one blindly walks across a vast pit. By using the Harp of Ages, the lone book from the Present is reunited with the five others in the Past to form a complete set and access the Fairy Powder. In actuality, only five books are ever shown in the game, since the sixth book that the player adds to the set is only an aged instance of one of the original five; thus, the same book appears twice in the Past.

Fairy Powder

Kept tucked away in the back of the Eyeglass Isle Library in the Past, yellow Fairy Powder is required to return the Fairy Queen of the Zora Seas, who was cursed by Veran and turned into an Octorok, to her original form.

Zora Scale

A natural sea charm, the Zora Scale is a symbol of Zoran heroism that is granted to Link after he cures King Zora's illness, rids the Zora Seas of its filth, and completes the seventh dungeon inside Jabu-Jabu's belly. It possesses the power to calm rough seas, and for that reason the Piratians desire it to escape the whirlpools of the Sea of Storms.

Tokay Eyeball

The captain of the Piratians is willing to trade this treasure for the Zora Scale. It opens the mouth of Crescent Island's one-eyed guardian statue in the Past when placed in its right eyesocket. Because the statue has both its eyes and is open-mouthed in the Present, and because a Tokay in the Present knows afolktale about such an action, Link is destined to use the Tokay Eyeball in the Past.

Slate

Four different slates are attainable in the eighth dungeon—Ancient Tomb—that each have ancient words written on them. All four are required to open the way to the tomb's darkest depths.

Key Items from Oracle of Seasons

Gnarled Key

This key, originally held by the Maku Tree of Holodrum, reveals the entrance to the first dungeon, Gnarled Root Dungeon, in North Horon.

Floodgate Key

This key opens the floodgates in Spool Swamp, allowing the waters to recede and revealing a path to the rest of the swamp.

Star-Shaped Ore

This rare ore formation can be found buried in the sands of the Subrosia Seaside. The manager of the Subrosia Market is willing to trade for it.

Ribbon

This ordinary pink ribbon belongs to Rosa, the celebrity Subrosian. After losing it, it winds up at the Subrosia Market, where the owner is willing to trade it for Star-Shaped Ore. Returning it to Rosa might coerce her into going on a date.

Other Items

Blast Blooms

These flowers from Oracle of Seasons bloom only in the spring. When standing on their opened flowers, one becomes enveloped in their petals and is shot into the air. These flowers often grow at the bottoms of cliffs, where their unique ability can project people onto the clifftop. In other seasons, they close up into buds and become as hard as stone, similarly to Rock Flowers.

Owl Stones

Also known as Owl Statues, these objects hold secrets about dungeons or other locations. Breaking open a Mystery Seed on them causes them to speak these secrets aloud.

Raft

The raft appears in Oracle of Ages as a means of traversing the open seas. It is built by Rafton in the Past and is made with Cheval Rope, which does not rot when it gets wet. The need for using the raft is superceded when one obtains the Mermaid Suit.

Rock Flowers

These unique plants found in Oracle of Seasons bloom only in spring, as Blast Blooms do. When in bloom, they can be cut down as if they were normal bushes, but in other seasons these flowers close up and harden into immovable buds. At times such as these they act as obstacles, blocking pathways that are only accessable in springtime.

Rock Mushrooms

(Latin: Petri Fungus) These mushrooms are ripe for picking in the fall, and act as rock-hard obstacles in other seasons. When ripe, their stems are green, their heads are spotted and appear in two colors—red and purple. They are not affected by swords, but the Magic Boomerang can cut them down. They also can be picked with the Power Bracelet, and when thrown thereafter they disappear with a magical "poof!"

Seed Trees

Seed trees appear in different places across Holodrum and Labrynna and are named as are the seeds they bear, i.e., "Ember Tree" and "Scent Tree." Their leaves grow in a pattern that alludes to their seeds' mystical properties; for example, the tops of Gale Trees resemble the whirlwinds that their seeds create. Each tree visibly bears three seeds at a time, which can be harvested with the sword. Each seed from the tree counts as six actual seeds in one's Seed Satchel. After a harvesting, the tree remains bare for a period of time relative to the number of steps one takes. Additionally, seed trees in Oracle of Seasons are only fruitful in certain seasons: Scent Trees in spring, Mystery Trees and Gale Trees in summer, Pegasus Trees in fall, and Ember Trees in winter.

Soft Earth

Squares of soft earth are found in various places across Holodrum and Labrynna as great locations for planting Gasha Seeds. They are usually hidden from view and must be discovered, though their presences are often easily marked by the natural landscape—i.e., a lone bush in a field, or a conspicuous patch of land surrounded by rocks. Digging in the ground, cutting away bushes and picking up rocks are the most common means of uncovering them. While their name is similar to the "soft soil" of Ocarina of Time, it is not certain whether or not the two are related.

Spring Banana Tree

The Spring Banana tree is a rare tree found only on Mount Cucco in Holodrum.

Time Portals

Time Portals, when dormant, are square patterns marked on the ground throughout Labrynna. Playing the "Tune of Echoes" on the Harp of Ages in the vicinity of a dormant Time Portal will activate it, causing a blue whirlpool to appear in its place. Active portals allow for spatially-restricted time travel between the Past and the Present, a difference of 400 years. The "Tune of Currents" and "Tune of Ages" eventually eliminate the need for Time Portals for time travel.

Vine Sprout

In Oracle of Ages, vine sprouts appear in the Past as large, round, green seeds that can be pushed along the ground and moved about with the Switch Hook and Long Hook. They are easily broken when jumped upon or picked up and thrown, but reappear like most overworld items. If placed at the foot of an indented cliffside, it will grow along the cliff into a climbable vine in the Present, whereas letting it sit anywhere else will result in a small, stunted vine. There is no need for vine sprouts in Oracle of Seasons, wherein vines grow directly out of the ground at indented cliffsides in the summer and do not grow in other seasons.
