Coaster System Map

The San Diego Coast Express Rail or Coaster is a commuter rail that connects the North County area to the Metro area. The major use of ridership is for working commuters to get to the Downtown area.

Stations

Amtrak

The Pacific Surfliner is a 350-mile (563 km) Amtrak passenger train route serving communities on the coast of Southern California between San Diego and San Luis Obispo.

Stations and cities served

Southbound Pacific Surfliner crosses Agua Hedionda Lagoon in Carlsbad.

The Pacific Surfliner runs southbound as even-numbered trains and northbound with odd numbers. Trains with numbers beginning in 5 run only between San Diego and Los Angeles; numbers beginning in 7 are assigned to trains that run north to Goleta or San Luis Obispo (most continuing through Los Angeles to San Diego) and are known as Central Coast Pacific Surfliners. The Pacific Surfliner makes the following station stops; stops served by all trains along that section are bolded.

California

The Metrolink connects major cities in the Southern California area. Including San Diego, Anaheim, Los Angeles, and Riverside.

Orange County Line

The Orange County Line mostly serves through many communities in Orange County. The Orange County line runs from Dowtown Los Angeles to Oceanside in San Diego County connecting with the Coaster commuter rail to San Diego.

The Oceanside station connects with the metrolink, amtrak, and in 2007 the sprinter.

Sprinter

The Sprinter is a commuter rail line under construction between Oceanside and Escondido, California that will have 15 stops in-between . The Oceanside stop will connect passengers to the Coaster and the Metrolink.
