Aosdána (from "aos dána", Ir. "people of the arts") is an affiliation of creative artists in Ireland created in 1983. Its membership is limited to 200. Following election by the members the title of Saoi is conferred by the President of Ireland. No more than five living members can hold the title at any one time.
