Allmänna Idrottsklubben's emblem

AIK is a Swedish sports club based in Solna, north of Stockholm.

AIK is short for Allmänna Idrottsklubben which roughly translates into 'The Public/Common Sports Club'. The name refers to the fundamental idea that the club should be open for everyone but also to the clubs practicing of 'common' sports i.e. athletics.

Nowadays AIK's main sport is football but the club is also represented in ice hockey, bandy, floorball and bowling.

AIK's arena for football is Råsunda Fotbollstadion with a capacity of 36.608. The Ice hockey team is mainly residing at Hovet (8.500) but the more attracting games are usually played in Globen (13.850).
