This true story, is set in Stalag Luft III, the same POW camp where the 'real' Great Escape took place. The inmates come up with an ingenious way of digging a tunnel in the middle of an open area using a vaulting horse to cover the entrance. They also had to come up with a method of disposing of the earth coming out of the tunnel. Three men did manage to escape headed for neutral Sweden.
