Looking up the steps

The Filbert Steps are a public stairway in San Francisco, California. Technically a part of Filbert Street, the steps are actually a wooded enclave in the heart of the city, the steps lead from Telegraph Hill down to The Embarcadero. Even though the steps are a public way, there is no road, merely pedestrian stairs. Many houses exist along the steps, some only being accessible from the steps.

The steps are an excellent perch from which to observe the wild parrots of Telegraph Hill.
