Oscar Micheaux (1884-1951), pioneer African-American author & filmmaker

Oscar Micheaux was born on January 2, 1884 near Metropolis, Illinois, one of eleven children of former slaves.


Oscar Micheaux died on March 25, 1951 in Charlotte, North Carolina while on a business trip, His body was returned to Great Bend, Kansas, where he was interred in the Great Bend cemetery.
