Bomberman: Act Zero is the next game in the Bomberman video game series for the Xbox 360. Based on initial images released in Famitsu Magazine, the game features a complete redesign of the Bomberman character. Instead of being a minute robot (i.e. Shirobon) the Bomberman in this game is a mechanical looking cyborg which mirrors the original artwork.

Criticism

Even before its release, the game had already been panned by some gaming magazines, including Electronic Gaming Monthly, who "rewarded" the game with its Shame of the Month award, comparing Bomberman's new Halo-esque getup to Mario morphing into a cold-eyed Mafia hitman, and criticising the game for its severe lack of play options (only two multiplayer modes). Criticism has been mounted because there is no offline multiplayer option; all multiplayer occurs through Xbox Live.

Many Bomberman fans also disliked Bomberman's new design in Act Zero. Some believe that Act Zero is an attempt by Hudson to make the franchise darker, similar to Sega's Shadow the Hedgehog , Square Enix Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Rare's Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Other Bomberman fans believe that Act Zero is just an entirely new spin off series which is not part of the same canon continuality similar to the Megaman franchise spawning dozens of spin offs; Others believe that Act Zero is a remake based on the original Idea of the Blue Samus Aran-esque version of Bomberman on the original Nes boxart,Other Bomberman fans believe that Act Zero is possibly based on the japan-only Bomber King.
