Jersey Post is the official state-owned postal service for the island of Jersey. It covers the post code of JE.

History

It came about when in 1969 the British Government by Order in Council allowed the crown dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man the right to have independent postal systems within the British postal system. So the States allowed the formation of the postal system.

Current status

In the last few years, people have criticised the high price of postage (30p for UK service compared with 27p on the UK mainland) and poor service that Jersey Post have given. However, there has never been any plans for privatization of Jersey Post. Jersey Post has come to the modern age with an free webmail service called JerseyMail.
