Slim Fast, a food and beverage brand owned by Unilever, produces weight loss shakes, snacks, packaged meals, and other dietary supplement foods. Slim Fast promotes diets and weight loss plans featuring its food products. Slim Fast also promotes 30 minutes of exercise daily.
Original products
Slim Fast's original products include Slim Fast Ready-To-Drink shakes, available in several different flavors, which are used in place of a meal. They have 24 essential vitamins and minerals, 220 calories, 3 grams of fat, 5 mg of cholesterol, 40 grams of carbohydrates, 10 grams protein, 5 grams of fiber, and 35 grams sugar. This product line also includes a line of meal replacement bars, several flavors of snack bars, and a powdered version of the shake that consumers can mix for themselves less expensively than the canned, pre-mixed version.
Slim Fast Optima
Introduced in 2006, Slim Fast Optima is less calorie-rich and, it is claimed, more filling. Thus, "a shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch, and a sensible dinner", as their advertising claims, may feel more satisfying than the original formula. Each shake claims to "satisfy hunger for 4 hours." Optima is available in the same forms as the original products, including snack bars and powder, and also comes in low-carbohydrate and high-protein versions. Optima Shakes do not contain any stimulants, herbal ingredients, or appetite suppressants.
Slim Fast Optima pre-made shakes come in 6-packs, in the flavors of Cappuccino Delight, Creamy Milk Chocolate, French Vanilla, Rich Chocolate Royale, and Strawberries N' Cream.
The Optima powders contain 14 servings. One scoop with 8 oz. of skim milk creates a serving. Flavors offered are Chocolate Royale, French Vanilla, Milk Chocolate, and Strawberry Supreme.
