Hello Dweller, my name is Norman Siegel and I'm an extremely busy man so please excuse my frankness. I'd like you to reconsider the delete comment on the Israel A. Burns page. I don’t believe that he was given a fair objective disication because of his age. He has notable references and I believe he has done more in the city of Brooklyn then most of the local officials. That being said, if you would simply do a more serious inspection of the page, hopefully you will see the noted significance thank you.--N Siegel 23:33, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cricket work

Hi Dweller, i saw that you created som cricketing pages (biffer and blocker batsmen), anyway, i'm helping to format them a bit better, leave a message on my talk page if I accidentally deleted something in the process MichaelBillington 11:48, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, since you are busy clearing up this article... I thought a suggestion might help. There is a wikipedia article containing a List of cricketers -- and the articles linked on that page might give you some ideas on the right style and formatting to use for Ted Alletson. Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Good luck. - Motor (talk) 11:55, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've copied your posts from User talk:Motor to Talk:Ted Alletson. I hope you don't mind... the discussion is about that article and things start to get a bit messy otherwise. I'll reply there. Thanks. - Motor (talk) 12:17, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Dweller 14:18, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Have you read the literature available online ? Cricinfo has two articles at http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/england/content/player/8718.html and http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/england/content/story/70117.html .

stub sorting

If you'd like to help out with stub sorting, start here. You can also help out by putting the right stub on your article the first time. A list of stub types can be found here. If you have any more questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Have a great day and happy editing! Amalas =^_^= 13:54, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you may have noticed that I moved Ted Alleton's page to his full correct name. The page itself can still be accessed via Ted Alletson, but notice the redirect message at the top of the page. I've also started to build an introduction section for the article... this is meant to provide all the information in summary form so that anyone skimming the article can grasp the basic quickly. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style, Wikipedia:Annotated article and Wikipedia:The perfect article for more information. I've also created the page Alletson's Innings - which at the moment just redirects to Edwin Boaler Alletson. If you decide later that you want a separate article for his innings, you can change it from being a redirect into an article itself. Let me know if you have any problems doing that. Also, I'd appreciate you checking the article to make sure that I haven't missed any information or distorted anything. I'm not a cricket expert, and I'm just summarising the information. Also, feel free to change anything you disagree with. Thanks. - Motor (talk) 18:04, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any printed books/magazines that mention Alletson's innings, which we can use to better back up the claims made in the article? If you do, could you please add them to the bottom of the article: author, date of publication, publisher, ISBN number (and if possible, page numbers). Don't worry about formatting it correctly... just make the information clear and I'll do the formatting if you like. Thanks. - Motor (talk) 10:17, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've given the most prestigious, in what seems to be its most recent reprint. Dweller 11:04, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I've just formatted the refs. If you are interested in how the cite book/cite web thing works: template:cite book and template:cite web. I've also removed the bold formatting from the several places. The usual style is to use bold for the first mention of the article title (in this case, the article has three: Ted Alletson, Edwin Boaler Alletson and Alletson's Innings). It's also good style to only link the first mention of a term, i.e. world record and not the subsequent ones. - Motor (talk) 12:43, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Very helpful thanks. There's a lot to learn about Wiki. A bit off-putting perhaps, but gentle 'nudges' by editors like you are an excellent way forward. Dweller 14:18, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I know it can seem a bit complicated, but there's only really one important thing to remember: when you enter a new fact/claim/article into Wikipeda you should try to down note where you got the information from -- your source(s). Everything else... things like formatting, typos or organisation... can all be picked up as you go, and are easily sorted out by others. - Motor (talk) 15:20, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Persondata - you might like to spread that around too (like adding it to a few more cricket biography articles). The more people know about it, the faster it'll spread. - Motor (talk) 12:29, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For the start and end date, go to the cricketarchive page of Alletson (http://cricketarchive.co.uk/Archive/Players/27/27460/27460.html). The "Lists of matches and more detailed statistics" will lead to the list of his first class matches (http://cricketarchive.co.uk/Archive/Players/27/27460/First-Class_Matches.html). The convention followed is to use the starting dates of the first and last matches, and not the last day of the last match. Tintin (talk) 16:18, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Misc

Hi again, Dweller -- I really like the neat rewording you did in your recent edit of this article; that was a sentence I'd retained from the previous version I expanded, and to tell the truth, I had trouble with it! So, nice job!

I'm about to add some discussion about that very point regarding Noa on the article's Talk page -- and as wasn't sure whether you're watching it. (I've only been editing here for two weeks, and I still don't grasp all the flagging mechanisms.) So this is a head's up: you're invited to respond and I'd appreciate the input! (Just give me a coupla minutes to write it! :-) Thanks, Deborahjay 19:03, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Have done. Not sure I've been very helpful though! Dweller 13:02, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't sweat it. This sort of stuff goes on a lot at new pages. In a case like this, which is clearly a speedy deletion candidate, you just politely let the editor know how to oppose the speedy deletion with {{hangon}}. They often give up when you contact them on their talk page, if not, start working through WP:VAND warnings... and if they persist... WP:AIV. - Motor (talk) 10:46, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Having looked through his edit history, this article has been created and deleted before. So you could have also used {{db-repost}} to tag it. - Motor (talk) 11:03, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like your deletion noticed was removed by the creator of the article. I subsequently restored the notice once I found the empty article (though under a different reason). I am using VandalProof to do RC patrol. It's a pretty useful tool. 10:37, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

The deletion notice doesn't look invisible to me. It's right there in plain sight in the article. 10:39, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Indeed. 10:47, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Cool! 10:51, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Imperial Dragons

Hi. Thanks for your work on Imperial Dragons. However, it looks very much like it's a fan creation for the Warhammer 40,000 game, and probably won't be hanging around for any longer than it takes for it to be sent through AfD, so don't worry too much about it. Cheers --Pak21 11:57, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Groan. What a waste of effort! On the other hand, a) thanks for the nice message and b) I loved the hilarious message posted on the originator's Talk page. Dweller 11:59, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, very much have my eyes on the fancruft-central which is List of Space Marine Chapters... as for the message on the originator's talk page, I think it comes up WP:AGF: it could be canon and I (and Lowris) have just screwed up again. Cheers --Pak21 12:12, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for butting in here (I still have Dweller's page in my watchlist), but let me know when you AFD that space marine stuff and I'll be there to delete vote them. - Motor (talk) 12:27, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, as far as I'm concerned, you're welcome! :-) Dweller 12:38, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greg Wain

Hey Dweller,

I'm currently working on justification for the article Greg Wain, which I will post in the article's talk page. Hopefully it won't need to be too long. But in the meantime, Greg Wain is a headmaster of Australia's second most prestigious school (or is marketed as that anyway) and has made considerable contributions to emotional intelligence. There are also heaps of other things to note about him aswell, and as I mentioned earlier, I'll post them in the article's talk page soon. I hope this satisfies for the meantime...

Cheers JonoL 09:44, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely. If you can find a source for saying it's Australia's second most prestigious school, then add it to the article and I think that'll help the argument. Good luck! Dweller 09:57, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Persondata on Stephen Fry

It looks ok. I'm not entirely sure whether it's necessary to list "Stephen Fry" as an alternate name though. Two things... it's a good idea to include [[Wikipedia:Persondata]] in the edit summary to clarify for anyone reading what it is (and pass on the instructions). Normal users can't see the data in the page and they wonder what you've actually done. Also, the date isn't actually U.S. style, it's ISO standard: year-month-day, which allows easy sorting by computer. BTW: if you read the persondata page, it tells you how to modify your own Wikipedia stylesheet to let you see the Persondata when viewing the article - Wikipedia:Persondata#Viewing persondata. It makes it easier to see which articles do/don't already have it, and helps you to see whether you have formatted it correctly. Let me know if that's not clear. - Motor (talk) 14:26, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Clear! Thanks v much. Dweller 14:39, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you don't mind that I've done some surgery on your article on the song to keep it roughly consistent with the other ESC winner articles I've done up. Of course, odds are that there'lll end up being some sort of template-y thing which will supersede all our collective work anyway. BigHaz 02:34, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Instead of reprimanding him for removing the tag, I've asked him to provide sources. The search results for the tennis player make it impossible for a non-body building fan like me to find any relevant google links, but they could exist. - Mgm|(talk) 12:45, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Your welcome messages

What template are you using? It's better than {welcome}! Dweller 15:57, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm using {{subst:welcomeg|--~~~~}} . It seems the most welcoming as it is more graphicy and has loads more useful stuff on it than most of the other welcome messages. Benjaminstewart05 16:01, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's no need to be bewildered by it... it's standard operating procedure on AFD. The AFD process is so broken and unscalable that it is close to being complete madness half the time. Wait until you get into the middle of the Deletionism, Inclusionism, Exclusionism battles and all the factions in between... and of course, none of the above. It's like that sketch from Life of Brian#Analysis. I'll leave you to figure out where you sit with that lot. :) - Motor (talk) 10:31, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Needles (band)

Hiya, I saw that you slapped a {{db-copyvio}} template on The Needles (band). db-copyvio lets you insert the URL of the original source, so in this case the template should've read {{db-copyvio|url=http://www.video-c.co.uk/radarwatch.asp?vidref=then015&text=expanded&playback=S&player=QT}}. I've edited the template already, but I'm just letting you know for future reference :) Matt Eason 11:09, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I took a look at what they did here - basically copy the warning that had been placed by others on their talk page - and have watchlisted your and their pages to see what may or may not happen next. I was startled when I saw how many edits you have clocked up over the last two months. You have made around 650 edits in the last two months alone. I think all wikipedians should get the recognition they deserve from such a good lot of contributions, so I chose the working man's barnstar so you could see how much everyone appreciates you helping out here. You asked what you did right: You found something that interests you, and you expanded on the articles in your field. Keep it up and happy editing! MichaelBillington 09:12, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Verification

List of wars and disasters by death toll seems to be a bit of a mess generally, it could certainly do with some good sources. I am at a bit of a loss as to the purpose of the article to be honest. I cannot in truth see any point in it, though I doubt very much that it would be possible to get it VfD'd. I wonder if the scope of the article is just too big for one thing. I could see some point in having a list of wars, and a seperate list of disasters, but I would just list them alphabetically and I don't really understand the concept of attempting to put figures on the unknowable, at most these are just best guesses. I also wonder how events like the space disasters count as a real disasters, loss of life wise, I mean they vary from the loss of a single life to the loss of seven lives, these events may have been disasters for their respective space programmes, but in terms of the number of individuals that died their inclusion seems a bit odd. Then there's the Murder by individuals section, are we to list every single recorded murder? In the War and military action section it mentions a figure of 30-60 million for the 13th century Mongol expansion, but this seems just daft to me, it's pick a figure time. I also noticed that many, if not most of the comments on the talk page are unsigned, even by IP address, I find this quite disturbing, there are obviously some people here with an some sort of agenda, or maybe I'm being a bit paranoid. What is your opinion? Alun 17:31, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm... I've seen it before, thought not edited. It looks like a bad mess. And a political minefield too. What fun! We could get seriously stuck into it. Actually, rather than arguing the toss over every line, a good start point might be splitting the page into two halves for verified and unverified stats and gradually move constituent parts upwards? What do you think of that? --Dweller 17:59, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Meant to get back to you about the article, I'm a bit pushed for time but think it's a good idea to try to work on this article. By the way the thing that niggled me about the KP article was that my not verified tag kept being removed without a proper explanation. I'm always a bit wary of articles that don't use in line citations, as any new edit may appear to be supported by the list of citations in the article, because it is unclear which citations support which edits. Anyway I got the impression that the KP article is in good hands and any erroneous information will be quickly removed. I am quite keen on verification though and the Listof Wars article could do with some verification, as well as some major editing work. Alun 16:59, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :) Seemed like a reasonable search term... Grutness...wha? 10:48, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I need to work through all of them to check. I'll take down the citations as I find they're not needed. It's a *work in progress* --Dweller 13:22, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My work in progress can be seen at the article and in user:Dweller/sandbox

Actually Dweller, I wouldn't go to the trouble. I've had second thoughts about that particular form of presentation, it's messy and complicated, hard to get right and rather restrictive, and the end result neither looks very good nor is that easy to read in my opinion.

I'm working on a simpler, more elegant and more functional solution for the presentation of data on this page. So if I were you I wouldn't waste too much time on the formatting ATM, unless it's just for your personal edification.

Actually, I might as well show you a quick example of what I'm working towards. This one uses a fixed width text that is normally used for computer code and so on, I don't intend to use such text in the final version, but the layout is pretty much how I want it to be. Just to give you an idea of what lines I'm thinking along. I find this solution to be basically simpler, easier to read and more flexible, in that you can discuss each event at greater length instead of being confined to a wee little box in which you try to fit in one little piece of info or another. I think it looks a lot better too, quite frankly, even in the temporary fixed width text format.

BTW, note that the code to this little table is not really suitable for using as a basis for table code, because the format for fixed width tables is quite different than for normal tables. I'm just giving you this as an example of the type of layout I'm trying to work towards.

30,000,000 - 200,000,000 - African/Atlantic slave trade (16th - 19th C)

27,000,000 - 72,000,000 - Communist China (1949-1975) under
                           Mao Zedong[1]

20,000,000 - 26,000,000 - Democides and genocides (1933 -1945) of
                           Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler

3,000,000 - 30,000,000 - War crimes of Imperial Japan, especially in
China, 1930's-1945, under Hideki Tojo and
others. See also Japanese war crimes.[2]

BTW, I've left a copy of this message on the article's talk page. Gatoclass 22:59, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ted Alletson

Hi, Dweller. You were right first time re Alletson's name. He was called Ted and so that is what WP convention requires he should be called here. After all we don't give Johnny Douglas's name in full in the tile and that is a good example to support our view. All the best. --Jack 09:30, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

דוגמה למופ"ת - The Mofet article has been edited...

...and its creator advised (on the article's talk page) and personally welcomed (on his talk page). It isn't every day I dialogue with someone younger than my own children...!

BTW, the Hebrew I wrote here is a play on words based on his article's title: the phrase dugmah le-mofet means "an example worthy of emulation". Don't know if my writing qualifies, but since our junior colleague and I are new to Wikipedia, I think we'll find a common language to suit our common cause. Thanks for the intervention, -- Deborahjay 15:30, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Before you re-create that article, please note this: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pirate Party of the United States. Note the consensus. --Calton | Talk 09:33, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Before you suggest I've created something, how about checking the page history. Note the evidence. --Dweller 09:37, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why not just write an article about them? Even if they approve, it won't be the right tone... and let's not even go there with POV. Before you suggest something I didn't say you did, how about recalling what you suggested someone do? Or was that some other user named "Dweller"? --Calton | Talk 10:51, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't recreate anything. And I don't plan to. If the person that did wants to do so, he should do so with his own efforts, not a copyvio. And if he does so and demonstrates notability, he's done nothing wrong. I was trying to help, so admonish the bad guys. --Dweller 10:57, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't recreate anything Dot's nice. What that has to do with your actual suggestion that an editor actually do so in direct violation of the actual AFD I actually linked to -- which was the actual point, if you were paying attention -- I don't know, but if it's important to you, yes, you didn't recreate anything, nor did you kidnap the Lindbergh baby. --Calton | Talk 12:09, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I had no idea that the article was a repost. (Incidentally, as I'm still something of a newbie, how does one know when articles are reposts?) I tagged him for the blatant copyvio and posted a helpful comment on the talk page explaining how the creator of the article could overcome that problem. I've done nothing wrong and deserve no admonishment. You posted your AFD after I tagged and added to the talk page. Now I'm off to improve my mind by finding out what the heck the Lindbergh baby is/was... but I do suggest you've fallen foul of WP:AGF here and I'm not the one in the wrong. --Dweller 21:30, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Relativity

Relativity was not "made up in school one day", and in fact is one of the most important scientific advances of the 20th century. I gather that you don't approve of it, but do not disrupt Wikipedia to make a point. --EMS | Talk 14:23, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, lighten up. a) it was obviously a joke and b) what's the "disruption" on a Talk page. --Dweller 15:20, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You need to see user talk:Der alte Hexenmeister. Let's just say that there are plenty of people out there who seriously would agree with your posting, and it is a nuisance when they show up here. As for disruption, I was refering to the implied possibility of your initiating an AfD on the article. However, even this joke is mildly disruptive in that it forces people to respond. --EMS | Talk 17:53, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I'm sorry. --Dweller 21:17, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about it. It was a relief to realize that you were not even serious. It actually was a bit humorous, and the lack of bile in it marked both you and it as something different from the usual trolling the we occasionally get here. Unfortunately, those of us who watch that page have to take that type of threat seriously. --EMS | Talk 21:37, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Um, I just stumbled across the above 'problem'. Not sure what you want to do about it as you started the first page, presumably not realising the second existed. The second is quite comprehensive and probably should remain as is while the first should become a redirect. I'll leave it to you to decide, just thought you ought to know! Budgiekiller 08:39, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah nuts. What a waste of time. Good spot though. When I searched for "Group of Death" the software didn't find Group of death!
Just to make sure I wasn't imagining it, I just did the same for "Group of sleep" and it didn't find Group of Sleep. So now I've created Group of sleep as a redirect.
To address this issue (!) I completely agree with you. Bah and phooey. --Dweller 08:43, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Critic of Islam

  • :-) Your own words betray you. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is indeed a critic but to blanket refer to her as "anti-Islam" is not correct. This is true primarily due to the fact that she's only "Anti-" to certain aspects of Islam... and not generally the entire religion. Netscott 14:55, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting, thanks. I think you'll have your work cut out though, with a narrow definition of the category. Not everyone here is well-intentioned, or with no desire to score points! --Dweller 14:58, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You can respond here with no need to crosspost if you'd prefer not to. I know all too well from personal experience that not everyone here is well-intentioned. I'm not sure what you're referring to with the "score points" commentary though. Netscott 15:00, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you were saying "axe to grind" with the "score points" commentary? Netscott 15:01, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not too much to read into it... I just meant that there are undoubtedly (exceedingly sad) people out there who will take great joy in adding names that don't really fit to that Category, just so that they can score points against Islam. (Is "score points" a British idiom?) --Dweller 15:05, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose your usage of "score points" is British in this case. In the way you've described it it sounds a bit more like "axes to grind"... but I don't see how adding someone like Ayaan Hirsi Ali to such a category is going to "score points against Islam"... if anything in my mind it'd be moreso "score points against Ayaan Hirsi Ali"... or put in the way that seems clearer, "Those with axes to grind against Ayaan Hirsi Ali will add her to the category.". :-) Netscott 15:09, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Adelaide Football Club player lists by year

You are right, it does seem a bit extreme to have lists of players by year for every Australian Football League club. You can put them up for AfD, or have me do it if you wish. It's going to be a big nomination. :) --Kimchi.sg 12:13, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there an automated or clever way of doing this? --Dweller 12:14, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
For multiple articles, no. There are scripts like this one that automate the process for single-article nominations, but they aren't smart at handling things like second nominations or, in our case, multiple articles in one nomination. --Kimchi.sg 12:33, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh dear. I've no idea how to make them all appear on one page, which would be smart. --Dweller 12:35, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The steps are on the Articles for deletion page, but here's a short summary.
Suppose you want to nominate 3 pages: SomePage, AnotherPage and YetAnotherPage.
  1. Paste the {{afd1}} on SomePage, as usual. This will create a link to the AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SomePage.
  2. To get AnotherPage and YetAnotherPage to link to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SomePage, paste the afd1 template on these pages in a different form: {{afd1|SomePage}}.
  3. Create the AfD page (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SomePage) as usual, but before you go on to step 3 (listing it in the daily log), edit the AfD page and mention the other articles you want to nominate for deletion also. (Just write something like "I also want to nominate these articles for deletion: AnotherPage and YetAnotherPage.")
  4. List the AfD page on the daily log using the Afd3 template, as normal.
Hope the above helps. --Kimchi.sg 13:08, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello.

  1. Please do not revert my good-faith productive changes without any discussion or explanation.
  2. What I did was correct: there's no need to disambiguate between the Dayan the judge and Moshe Dayan - because Moshe Dayan is not ambiguous to Dayan, and a "Dayan redirects here" notice at the top of Beth din is plenty sufficient.

I think this is a non-issue, but if you wish to follow with this further, please discuss first, and we can enlist a third opinion if we cannot come to an understanding. Thank you. - CrazyRussian talk/email 14:05, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you've been too quick off the mark. I have given explanation at the talk page. And it was you that reverted my edit without discussion. You've only come here now because I reverted your revert. --Dweller 14:07, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I could see what you were doing (and I was in the middle of writing you an explanation). The rule is never to use subst: on stub templates. Doing so completely ruins the work done by WP:WSS since it makes resorting articles close to impossible. It also means that a template and its corresponding category can easily be separated which is even worse. I think I have fixed all the affected articles now. WP:WSS will probably have to write this rule somewhere easy to see. Happy editing. Valentinian (talk) 12:16, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads-up re db-advert. Why does the template exist? It should be deleted. I don't agree with your db-empty however; the article doesn't seem to fall foul of those criteria. --Dweller 10:01, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the db-advert tag was created by an ambitious user but not debated and accepted into the WP:CSD criteria, so while it was undoubtedly a bold move it was sidestepping procedure somewhat, so got the active portion of it disabled (i.e. adding it doesn't automatically list the article in the speedy deletion category). At the time I added the db-empty tag the article was only one sentence saying it was a forum that gave out passwords for adult sites, so I figured it probably classed as speedy (on reflection, db-group might have fitted better as it didn't "assert the notability"). Frankly I still can't see much hope for the article - it fails WP:WEB pretty hard, having been in existence only for a few months and having no Alexa rank. ~Matticus TC 11:04, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The first paragraph of Grace after meals is traditionally ascribed by Jews to the authorship of Moses. Subsequent paragraphs are also attributed to various prophets who predate Christianity by some millenia. On a more factual, "citational" basis, by the time of the discussions recorded in the Mishna, with which the life of Jesus is roughly contemporaneous, Grace after meals (and indeed, the blessings before meals) is a well-established fact of Jewish life with some antiquity behind it. --Dweller 15:09, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me, a stalker?!

Hey, thanks for reporting this guy. I found his diatribe amusing, and will continue to hunt him down every time he adds links to his crappy Geocities pages.. Budgiekiller 15:59, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Keefo

Hi, thanks for letting me know about the Keith O'Neill article. I'll see if I can dig out some more info for it. Remembering how big Keefo's ego was, I'm sure he'd me amazed too that he didn't have one on here and that he hadn't been a featured article! User:Demonicanglian

Mathias Svensson

I've set up a page for Svensson using the red link from the IF Elfsborg page. I don't have many career details for him, however. If there is anything you can add, feel free! User:Demonicanglian

Tractor does budgie

Hey, just add Daryl Sutch to the Wikipedia. It's a stub, but hopefully is a good start. Budgiekiller 16:06, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My recent uses of VP

Thanks for your message, and I hope you can help me out - another view always helps. So, to my errors with VP. The warning to DemonicAnglian was a complete and total error that arose because of a hardware problem here, I had no intention of issuing any warning to him. If I had, I agree a t4 would be innapropriate. I think I can point to two mistakes with VP, and one complete mystery (The Truth about the Iditarod). If I'm making other mistakes, either in degree of warning or where no vandalism has taken place, then please tell me where they are and I will work out how they arose and how to avoid them in the future. Thanks again, Mr Stephen 14:23, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is your editcount using Interiot's tool. It works using Firefox, perhaps it doesn't like IE very much? (aeropagitica) 15:13, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Has anyone recently told you that you're a nice person? --Dweller 15:16, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, but that's made my day! Cheers (aeropagitica) 15:27, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Thanks for picking up that issue yesterday re the VP. As I said to Mr Stephen on his talkpage, it all seems to be sorted now and hopefully it won't happen again, whatever caused it. All very bizarre! User:Demonicanglian

Please will you review the tag I just placed on this article. I'm not 100% certain I've done the most appropriate thing and would value advice. --Dweller 10:37, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for tagging this article. I have moved it to Magic Circus as you suggested and re-tagged it for speedy deletion. In future, if you want to move a page (even if you think it may be about to be deleted), feel free to do so using the "move" link at the top of the article. Tagging the article was the most important thing, as it now shows up in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion and us administrators can deal with it – Gurch 10:42, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dealt with. The guy was quite persistent plus I forgot that deleting a page removed its protection which lead to him creating the article for a third time. Anyway, it's done and the page protected. Hey! The text is at [5]. I suggest you search for "23 Mar 2004 : Column GC289" in the text, although the whole thing is interesting if you like that sort of thing. Good luck. --Skittle 15:52, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Associação

Hi there, I can´t see your point. What´s wrong with the article? Thanks! Tonyjeff 15:06, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you need to demonstrate that it's notable. --Dweller 15:14, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks, I couldn´t understand what is a speedy tag or a worked-on article. The article is notable because it is about the most important project to preserve the Transmontan bagpipe in Portugal - which had been almost vanished -, supported by many institutions like the Ministry of Culture. They do make a great effort with many projects, like classes and workshops. They have made valuable researches with old bagpipers which are dying, making these their last register. They promoted the most important bagpipe meeting in Portugal: the National Encounter of Bagpipers (Encontro Nacional de Gaiteiros), gathering even bagpipers from Scotland, Spain and France. It is really not just a self-promotional text, since it is a non-profitable organization; the intention is to show how important is to preserve the Transmontan bagpipe, and which efforts are being made. However, all of it is said on the article; how do you think I could make it better? Thanks. Tonyjeff 16:31, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to help. I'll post to your talk page. --Dweller 17:58, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Dweller. I´m sure enough that the Bagpipe Association of Portugal is much more notable than The Hairy Hands Club, but I´m going to retrieve some informations, like quantity of members (not 1,000,000 I guess, but a relevant quantity) and midia coverage. As I have said, is the most important organization to the preservation of the Transmontan bagpipe, for the extense of its courses, workshops, researches and events promoted. In fact, maybe only by the Gaitafolia, the pipeband of the association, there is enough midia coverage. As soon as possible, maybe two days, I may gather some informations. Cheers. Tonyjeff 19:36, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, Dweller. I think I was able to gather some informations. The Association gahters actually around 200 effective members, and much more non-members. It has been covered by some important newspapers of Portugal, like Expresso, Público and Diário de Notícias. Their effort has been recognized by the government, receiving a subsidy from the Ministry of Culture to support their projects. The shows of their pipeband, the Gaitafolia, have been covered by some important media whereas it has been, like Spain and France. Their most important event, the Nation Encounter of Bagpipers, has gathered more than 8,000 people along its four years of existence, and has been covered by important media, like the newspapers already cited and TV channels like RTP and SIC. They are indeed the biggest movement to the preservation of the Transmontan bagpipe in Portugal, although they work toghether with other minor organizations. I sincerly think its notable enough to be in Wikipedia, since they have just seven years of existence and still growing. Tonyjeff 20:32, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Stick that in the article. Sounds excellent (apart from the 200 members, which is a bit weak!) --Dweller 21:07, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Dweler, really thank you for your patience. Let´s make it better! =D Tonyjeff 01:15, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, any idea where your fellow budgie is getting his info from? I'm beginning to become cautious that each article may be a copyvio, or he's a great transposer of biographies...! As for expert pen takers, what about expert pen savers (e.g. Paul Cooper)?!! Budgiekiller 19:57, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If It's Notable...

Fine, then, but as I see it currently, the article is worthless. Expand, or save it for another day. I am a bit of a speedy-deletionist, and as the article is currently written, it's useless. And as it was first posted, it's vanity. Niki Whimbrel 19:43, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As I didn't create the article (and in fact it was I that removed the daft advert) I'm not responsible for how Holman Fenwick & Willan began life. And I could hardly be expected to expand it in the time between my removing the speedy tag and you slapping it right back again. --Dweller 19:46, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, fine. I'll back out. You have fun with it, and I'm sorry if I offended you. Niki Whimbrel 19:47, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Dweller, Thanks a lot for helping me know certain things. I have done accordingly and now just wanted to inform you that I did delete that statements that I made aganist him. It would be nice of you if you gave me a reply and made me know who is he exactly.

Updated DYK query On 7 October, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Summer of four captains, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

You're welcome. I can't claim huge personal knowledge, but with this sort of thing I've found the Scorecard Oracle on CricketArchive to be very useful in providing the bare bones. Loganberry (Talk) 16:08, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gurch. Wondered if you'd cast an experienced eye over User talk:Crystal place? Seems to be being used for free advertising. I've removed contact details, but don't know if my warning message was totally out of line... or perhaps understated! --Dweller 07:44, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for removing the contact details; they were definitely inappropriate. Whether the rest of it counts as advertising, I'm not sure; it's not blatant but it's definitely not the intended purpose of a talk page. CSD G11 therefore doesn't really apply, but I'm sure you could get it deleted through MfD. It's up to you whether you think it's worth doing so – Gurch 07:48, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Malta? Messed up?

What do you mean by "I think something messed up with your visit to Malta!"? And by the way, I've not been to Malta, it says there I want to go to Malta. And the page looks fine to me. | AndonicO 15:07, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you visit the Malta article, you'll find that you've misrepresented Malta's name and its flag. --Dweller 15:24, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) is the smallest official country on earth, according to the history channel. It is, just like the Vatican, in Rome. Occupying only one building, it is the only nation to have only one street in it's adress. They even showed the licence plate for their cars on TV. In order to become a citizen, you must be born there; there are only about 80 of them. Therefore, as you may expect, going to a place no one has ever heard of gives you bragging rights (especially if it's the tiniest country on the planet). | AndonicO 16:07, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

For following up with that user asking me about spam. I should probably take a break from editing--I find myself getting easily frustrated and impatient, and that's bad. Good thing you're around! -- Merope 17:08, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
