Season 1: 1996-1997

1. Downtown as Fruits / Eugene's Bike

• Avoiding a food group play ran by Helga Pataki, Arnold and Gerald find themselves lost in the downtown area of the city.
• After Eugene's bike is broken by Arnold, Arnold tries to make up for it by taking Eugene to a series of entertainment centers.

2. The Little Pink Book / Field Trip

• Arnold finds a little pink book with poems written by an "unknown" girl.
• The class goes to the Aquarium; Gertie and Arnold try to free a turtle.

3. Arnold's Hat / Stoop Kid

• Arnold loses his hat after being blown in a gusts while trying to fly a kite.
• Arnold tries to make a bully (stoop kid) that has been living on a stoop since he was born to conquer his fear of the things outside his stoop.

4. Helga's Makeover / The Old Building

• Helga goes to a slumber party; the 4th Grade boys intend to crash the slumber party, but get caught.
• Arnold is caught in the middle when Arnold's Grandma and Ernie are arguing about whether an old building should be torn down or not.

5. 6th Grade Girls / The Baseball

• Arnold and Gerald attend a 6th grade party and try to date "older girls".
• Arnold meets Mickey Kayline, his favorite baseball player, after the final game of his career, but finds he's retiring.

6. Heat / Snow

• A heat wave engulfs the city; Arnold and Gerald try to find ways to escape heat
• After a heatwave, a snowstorm comes to the city; Arnold's Grandpa tries to teach Arnold work ethic while friends play.

7. Operation Ruthless / The Vacant Lot

• While the Cheese festival is in town, Phoebe and Helga try to eliminate Arnold's interest in Ruth, a girl Arnold likes.
• Arnold and Gerald find a vacant lot and turn it into a baseball field; they call it "Gerald Field".

8. The List / Haunted Train

• A note with a series of events posted on it is believed to have made some 4th Grader's Saturday good;Arnold attempts to do everything on it in just one day, but finds it hard going
• Arnold, Gerald, and Helga believe Grandpa's rumors of a train that leads to the underworld.

9. Mugged / Roughin' It

• Grandma teaches Arnold to become a kung-fu master in order to face a guy who mugged him
• Arnold goes camping-so does Helga and her family.

Door #16 / Arnold as Cupid Benchwarmer / Cool Jerk

• Arnold plays basketball for a coach who insists on passing to his son and thus doesn't let the "team" play as an actual team.
• Arnold hangs out with some biker

10. Das Subway / Wheezin' Ed

• The gang encounters trouble while traveling in the subway.
• The gang travels to Elk island to find a pirate treasure.

11. Tutoring Torvald / Gerald Comes Over

• Arnold must tutor a intellectually challenged 13-year-old fourh grader to pass a math test.
• Gerald visits Arnold at his house and gets to know about its wacky inhabitants.

12. Spelling Bee / Pigeon Man

• Arnold competes in a Tri-City spelling bee
• Arnold confronts a man that has known and trusted pigeons all his life

13. Olga Comes Home / Sally's Comet

• Jealous of her older sister, Helga sabotages Olga's grades
• Arnold, Gerald, and Arnold's Grandpa await a comet to come across the city

14. Abner Come Home / The Sewer King

• Arnold loses his pet pig, Abner
• After getting a watch for his grandpa, Arnold tries to retrieve it from a man who has lived in the sewers all his life

15. False Alarm / World Records

• Eugene is framed for pulling the fire alarm at school
• Arnold and his friends try to get into a book of world records.

16. Magic Show / 24 Hours to Live

• While Arnold is carrying out a magic trick, Helga runs away and gets blacked out
• Harold challenges Arnold to a fight, much to Helga's delight

17. Arnold's Christmas

• Arnold tries to find Mr. Hyunh's daughter (they were separated in the Vietnam War) as he carries out his duty as Mr. Hyunh's secret Santa

Arnold's Valentine

• Arnold writes his long time crush, Ruth, a valentine inviting her to dinner. Meanwhile, Helga pretends to be his French pen pal Cecile and invites him to dinner at a restaurant next door.

Season 2: 1997-1998

18. Save The Tree / New Teacher

Note: the first episode to feature Dan Butler as Arnold's teacher, Mr. Simmons

• Arnold and other 4th graders try to save their treehouse from being torn down for a Big Bob's Beepers establishment
• After their last teacher, Mrs. Slovak, retired to become a pro golfer, Arnold's 4th grade class gets a new teacher, Mr. Simmons.

19. Helga's Love Potion / Gerald's Secret

• Helga buys a love potion to cease her obsession with Arnold.
• Arnold helps Gerald leard to ride a bike after he discovers Gerald has a traumatizing experience with a bike once before.

20. The Big Scoop / Harold's Kitty

• The gang print the school newspaper, but Helga is disappointed when Arnold refuses to spread rumors through the paper. Helga starts her own with the help of Phoebe, based on rumours and hear'say
• Harold finds a cat that he soon grows attached to, only to find out that it belongs to an old lady who he thinks is mean.

21. Longest Monday / Eugene's Pet

• The kids try to avoid getting thrown in dumpsters and trash cans as part of the annual ritual of the fourth-graders
• Eugene's goldfish is killed by Arnold

22. Monkey Business / Big Caesar

• Helga thinks she will die from a superstitious 19th century disease, monkeynucleosis.
• Arnold and Gerald compete in a fishing competition to catch a ledgendary fish, Big Ceaser

23. Ransom / Ms. Perfect

Note: (the first story made with Mr. Simmons, and the only story without Arnold speaking)

24. Arnold Saves Sid / Hookey

• Arnold saves Sid from being "crushed" by a large sign, so Sid decides to become his servant to repay him.
• Arnold and Gerald play hookey and have to sneak around everywhere to avoid being caught. They learn that they would've had fun in school because it was "Surprise Carnival Day".

25. Freeze Frame / Phoebe Cheats

• Arnold and Gerald accidentally film a man putting a note in the hollow of a tree. Thinking he might be suspicious, the pair decide to investigate his actions, to find they were plans for a surprise birthday party.
• Phoebe cheats in a poetry contest in her class by copying a poem out of a book. However, she thinks the statue she wins of Emily Dickinson is calling her a cheater, such is her guilty conscience.

26. Mud Bowl / Gerald Moves Out

• Wolfgang and the other fifth graders challenge Arnold and his friends to an American football match, but Arnold has to first persuade his friends that his "plays" are good enough for them to win.
• Gerald, getting tired of his family bugging him, moves out of his home and into Arnold's boarding house-only to realize emacipation is not all it cracked up to be.

26. The High Life / Best Friends

• Gerald becomes an entrepreneur out of selling watches until the market becomes saturated
• Rhonda and Nadine fall out over working on a project at school, leaving Arnold to work with both of them separately

27. Arnold's Halloween

• A parody of the panic caused by Orson Welles' adaptation of "The War of the Worlds". The whole city mistakens a prank set up by Arnold and Gerald as an actual alien invasion.

28. Steely Phil / Quantity Time

• Arnold's grandpa enters a Chinese Checkers tournament to reclaim his pride lost forty years ago
• Helga's mom tries to let Helga and her father, Bob, bond

29. Eating Contest / Rhonda's Glasses

• Arnold is encouraged to enter and win an eating contest, but he has to compete with a kid named Seymour, who is famous for being an eating machine. Can Arnold Make it?
• Rhonda gets glasses and finds out what it is like to be a "geek".

30. Helga's Boyfriend / Crush on Teacher

• Helga uses Arnold's cousin, Arnie-during a stay at the boading house-as her boyfriend to try and make Arnold jealous, as she's fed up of his affection towards Lila
• Arnold develops a crush on teacher Miss Felter, thinking he is having dinner at her house, only to realise otherwise

31. Hall Monitor / Harold's Bar Mitzvah

• Phoebe becomes hall monitor, asking Helga for tips for becoming a good hall monitor
• Harold runs away from his Bar Mitzvah for thinking he will retain his childhood this way

32. Coach Wittenburg / Four-eyed Jack

• Arnold and his friends get Coach Wittenberg to be their new bowling coach
• The ghost of a former boarding house resident is believed to have been causing strange accurances in the boarding house

33. Eugene Goes Bad / What's Opera, Arnold?

• After finding out that his idol is a total wimp, Eugene sets out to become bad
• Helga falls asleep and has her own "parody/dream" of the musical Carmen

34. Tour de Pond / Teachers Strike

• Arnold and a descendant of Arnold's grandpa's arch enemy, Rex Smythe Higgins (The Third), compete in a remote-control boat race
• Teachers of Arnold's school go on strike because of inadequate funding; Arnold and his friends find things to do until the school reopens

35. Part-Time Friends / Bio Square

• Arnold is okay with working with Gerald at Mrs. Vitello's flower shop, but not okay with working for Gerald
• As a science assignment, Arnold and Helga have to live with each other for 24-hours in the Sunset Arms greenhouse

36. Runaway Float / Partners

• After creating an idea for a parade float, Arnold is confident of it showing up in a parade
• A lounge singer moves in to the Sunset Arms after renouncing his songwriter

Season 3: 1998-1999

37. Helga Blabs It All / Harold the Butcher

• Helga, under the influence of laughing gas, calls Arnold, pours her heart out to his answering machine and must work to retrieve the machine before the messages can be checked
• Harold is forced to work as Mr. Green's assistant after a failed attempt of stealing a ham from his shop, to find out he wants to stay longer.

38. Dangerous Lumber / Mr. Hyunh Goes Country

Note: (Guest voice Randy Travis)

• Arnold has a lethal baseball bat swing, causing him to unintentionally wreak havoc, so he gets advice from retired Baseball legend Mickey Kaline
• Mr Hyunh has a talent for country singing, so Arnold and Gerald, after recording a CD with him down the local studio, become his managers and make him a big star, much to Hyunh's dislike

39. Casa Paradiso / Gerald's Tonsils

• Grandpa Phil decides to sell the boarding house to live in a condo in Florida.
• Gerald's voice is deepened after having his tonsils removed-- just in time for a chorus recital.

40. Arnold's Room / Helga vs. Big Patty

• Sid borrows Arnold's room in order to study with and impress Lorenzo.
• Helga harasses Patty to the point that she challenges Helga to a fight.

41. Stinky Goes Hollywood / Olga Gets Engaged

• Stinky becomes the new Yahoo Soda poster child.
• Olga gets engaged to a man who does not exactly woo Helga

42. Curly Snaps / Preteen Scream

• Curly locks himself in the principal's office after being skipped as the person who collects kick balls after recess
• Phoebe wins a chance to meet her favorite singer to find that he lip-synchs.

43. Grandpa's Birthday / Road Trip

• Grandpa thinks he is to die, as he claims that every member of his family dies when they turn 81. The "family curse" turns out to actually be 91.
• Big Bob has to go to a business meeting, meaning Helga and Miriam have to visit their aunt in South Dakota themselves, but instead get embroilled in a series of mishaps

44. Sid's Revenge / Roller Coaster

• Sid swears vengeance with a voodoo doll made out of a bar of soap carved into the form of Principal Wartz for giving him detention for a prank he didn't pull.
• A roller coaster breaks down while Eugene and Arnold are at the top of the tallest drop of the it.

45. The Aptitude Test / Oskar Gets a Job

• Helga thinks shes dim because she failed an aptitude test at school, only to discover she received someone else's test score.
• Oskar gets a job as a newspaper deliverer but uses Arnold as cover for his laziness.

46. Arnold Betrays Iggy / Helga and the Nanny

• Stinky and Sid pulls the fact that Iggy wears bunny pajamas from Arnold and spreads the rumor among their classmates.
• Bob hires a Nanny; Helga gets sick of her nanny bossing her around and tries to get her fired.

47. Career Day / Hey Harold!

• Arnold gets paired with the bitter Jolly Olly Man as part of Career Day
• Harold tries to bail out of his bar mitzvah

48. Best Man / Geek Party

• Coach Wittenburg assigns Arnold the duty of best man at his second wedding.
• Rhonda holds a cool-people-only party at her house. In retaliation, Arnold and his friends hold a "geek" party on the roof of his boarding house, leaving Rhonda deserted

49. Arnold & Lila / Grand Prix

• Arnold gets more attention than he bargained for after Helga writes "Arnold loves Lila" on the wall.
• The kids compete in a grand prix race against each other

50. Arnold's Thanksgiving

• Arnold and Helga are sick of their family's Thanksgiving traditions. They meet and go to Mr Simmons, only to realize that, compared to his Thanksgiving with his family, their's aren't so bad after all.

51. Helga's Show / The Flood

• Helga tells jokes about her classmates. Her classmates aren't too thrilled.
• The town is flooded and Arnold's class is trapped at school.

52. Phoebe Takes the Fall / The Pig War

• Helga demands that Phoebe loses a quiz competition to impress her competitive father
• Arnold, Grandpa and friends reenact the Pig War

53. Crabby Author / Rich Kid

• Arnold does his school report on an author he likes. He finds her to be a grumpy hag.
• A rich kid, Lorenzo, comes to the school, and Arnold devises a way to include him in various activities with his friends

54. Girl Trouble / School Dance

• Arnold snaps at school after Helga tries his patience once too often
• Arnold is in charge of this year's school dance. He books has-been singer Dino Spumoni, and when he sings a depressing "good-bye" song, all fingers point at Arnold.

55. School Play

• Helga does everytihng in her power to be Juliet in the play Romeo and Juliet, when she hears Arnold is Romeo.

56. Full Moon / Student Teacher

• Harold, Stinky and Sid all moon Principal Wartz, but Arnold gets the blame for it as an innocent bystander and refuses to reveal who really did it in detention.
• Helga's sister Olga stays over for the holiday, but takes charge of her class at school, to Helga's horror.

Season 4: 1999-2000

57. Big Gino / Jamie O. In Love

• Arnold and Gerald ask Big Gino a favor
• Jamie-O has a sudden burst of kindness when he finds a girlfriend. Arnold and Gerald find out she's taking advantage of him.

58. Eugene's Birthday / Stinky's Pumpkin

• Arnold feels obliged to throw a birthday party for Eugene
• Stinky grows a huge pumpkin for the City-Wide Vegetable Fair

59. The Beeper Queen / Oskar Can't Read

• After Bob pops his spine, Miriam runs Big Bob's Beepers. Miriam gets in over her head and forgets about her family.
• Arnold finds out that Oscar is illiterate

60. Dinner for Four / Phoebe Skips

• Helga wants to show Arnold that she can be as sophisticated as Lila is by taking him, Gerald and Phoebe out to dinner with a coupon she had won. She devises a plan when she discovers she's at the wrong restaurant.
• Phoebe is promoted to the sixth grade, but realizes that the girls there have ulterior motives to being her friends

61. Helga's Parrot / Chocolate Turtles

• Afer Bob's new parrot finds out Helga's secret, Helga tries to kill the parrot
• Crisis strikes when Gerald's little sister eats a stock of chocolates that Arnold and Gerald are supposed to sell for a local scout organization

62. Love and Cheese / Weighing Harold

• Helga tries to separate Arnold from Lila when they go to the Cheese Festival together. Second episode with a cheese festival.
• Harold, after discovering his friends thinks he's fat, goes on a cruise for dieters, only to come back noticeably heavier.

63. Back to School / Egg Story

• Grandpa goes back to school
• "Couples" Harold and Rhonda and Arnold and Helga look after an egg as part of a school project

64. It Girl / Deconstructing Arnold

• Helga becomes a model, but quits after realizing she hates everyone acting like her.
• Tiring of Arnold being the agony uncle, Helga decides to give some advice of her own

65. Grudge Match / Polishing Rhonda

• After getting into a car accident, Big Bob and Grandpa face off on the golf green, with the loser having to pay for the damage to both cars
• Rhonda attends a finishing school, but is far from impressive with her stroppy attitude, and seeks help from fellow student Big Patty

66. Weird Cousin / Baby Oskar

• Arnold's bland country cousin, Arnie, visits, and Lila falls for him.
• Oskar has to look over a baby while his wife and his wife's sister are gone

67. Grandpa's Sister / Synchronized Swimming

• Phil's sister (voiced by Phyllis Diller) comes for a visit, bringing along an unsettled conflict between them
• Arnold and the gang are a part of a synchronized swimming team lead by Coach Wittenburg

68. Helga Sleepwalks / Fighting Families

• After eating pork rinds, Helga sleepwalks, uttering her secrets as she does so.
• The residents of the boarding house compete in a game show with another family

69. Friday the 13th / Headless Cabbie

• Arnold and Gerald try to prove superstitions are fictitious
• Arnold tells an urban legend about a decapitated horse cab driver

70. Veterans Day

• Arnold's Grandpa recalls his adventures as a soldier in the Second World War, with Gerald's dad Martin, who remembers his own time fighting in Vietnam

71. Helga on the Couch

• After expressing much anger, the school psychologist sits down with Helga to explain why she has such deep feelings for Arnold. Guest starring Kathy Baker

72. Dino Checks Out

• Dino Spumoni is found missing and then declared dead after what appears to be a suicide attempt. However, Arnold finds out that this isn't the case, and he secretly lives in the boarding house, thanks to a get-rich-quick scheme he devises

73. Helga's Masquerade / Mr. Green Runs

• Helga decides to act and dress like Lila in a bid to win Arnold's attention
• Butcher Mr. Green decides to run for councelor after tiring of rival Councilman Gladhand's laziness

74. Sid the Vampire Slayer / Big Sis

• Sid believes that Stinky is a vampire
• A program has Olga act as an older sister for Lila

75. Bag of Money / Principal Simmons

• Arnold tries to convince people that a strange character took a bag of money he and two friends found in an alley
• Mr. Simmons becomes principal after Principal Wartz has one too many outbursts
  • In "Principal Simmons", there is a spoof of the song I Will Survive entitled "I Will Prevail".

Season 5: 2000-2004

76. New Bully on the Block / Phoebe Breaks a Leg

• A new bully arives, becoming an ally of Wolfgang
• Phoebe fractures her leg after being hit by a bus while running errands for Helga. Helga feels horrible and attend to Phoebe's every whim. Phoebe likes the attention and pretends to be injured a little while longer.

77. Parents Day

• The kids all take part in the annual parent-child sports weekend. But after a competitive Bob insultingly calls Arnold an orphan kid, he wishes to know more about his parents.

78. Helga's Locket / Sid and Germs

• Helga gets an inscription about Arnold inside her Arnold locket, but has it stolen by his pet pig Abner, forcing her to go into his boarding house to retrieve it.
• After seeing a movie about germs in school, Sid develops germaphobia-- just in time for the frog-catching contest.

79. Suspended / Ernie in Love

• Harold gets suspended from school by Principal Wartz, but the more desperate his attempts to get back into school, the longer the suspension Wartz gives him.
• Ernie meets a model, to find out he'll never meet the right woman.

80. Summer Love ("a.k.a." Beach Story)

Arnold goes on holiday to the beach with his grandparents and the other boarders, intending to get away from Helga Pataki who has been harassing him. Much to both their surprises, Helga and her family are also there. He meets a girl called Summer who he warms to, but Helga knows otherwise about her motives in being with him, and tries to warn him.

• Second episode where Arnold and Helga kiss.

81. Stuck in a Tree / Rhonda Goes Broke

• Arnold, Harold, and Eugene get on each others nerves when the manage to get stuck in a tree.
• Rhonda's parents lose all their money causing the Lloyd family to move into the boarding house.

82. Beaned / Old Iron Man

• Helga gets a bout of amnesia after being hit on the head with a baseball. Arnold offers to assist her get her life together. Helga likes the attention from Arnold, and pretends to be ill for just a little longer...
• Grandpa takes on his old friend Jimmy Kafka in a contest to try and prove who is "the best man".

83. Arnold Visits Arnie / Chocolate Boy

• Arnold visits his oddball cousin Arnie in the country.
• Arnold tries to help Chocolate Boy overcome his obsession with chocolate, only to discover he wanted to quit to win a bet with Wolfgang.

84. Harold vs. Patty / Rich Guy

• Harold is angry at Big Patty beating him in an arm wrestling match, especially as Sid and Stinky are laughing at him because of it.
• After saving a man from being hit in the face with a puck at an ice hockey match, Arnold and Grandpa are invited to his house. They realize he's a multi-millionaire, but Arnold discovers money doesn't buy happiness for everyone.

85. Gerald's Game / Fishing Trip

• Gerald becomes obsessed with the card game, The King Rules, diminishing his and Arnold's relationship.
• Arnold and some of his friends and their fathers go on a fishing trip, but end up getting into all sorts of mishaps

86. Married

• Arnold and Helga are paired together by Rhonda's origami marriage predictor. The pair both dream that night what it would be like if they were married to each other.

87. April Fool's Day

• Arnold "blinds" Helga as a part of an April Fool's prank, after she plays one too many on him for his liking.

88. On The Lam / Family Man

• Harold, Sid, and Stinky hide from the law after thinking they blew up a police station.
• Mr. Hyunh pretends that the boarders are his family to impress his family-man obsessed boss.

89. The Racing Mule / Curly's Girl

• Grandpa, Ernie and Mr. Hyunh train a horse to win a race, along with help from Arnold
• Rhonda's mother's coat gets dirtied. Curly offers to clean it for her in his parents' dry cleaning store on one condition: he and Rhonda agree to, publicly, be a couple, much to Rhonda's disgust

Side Note:

When this episode was originally intended to air, on October 11, 2002, Nickelodeon began airing "Married" instead. The network did not catch the mistake until just after the second half of the episode began, when they switched to the regularly scheduled "Curly's Girl". After this gaffe, Nickelodeon did not rerun the episode until November 19, 2003, when they repeated the same mistake. On January 11, 2004, the episode was finally aired in full.

90. The Journal

• Arnold finds a diary and map that tell him more about his parents-- and their possible location. (originally intended to be a lead in for a conceptual second Hey Arnold! movie).

91. Timberly Loves Arnold / Eugene, Eugene!

• Gerald's little sister Timberly falls for Arnold after playing in the park. Arnold uses her as a way of getting Lila's attention.
• Arnold and his friends take part in the musical Eugene, Eugene. Eugene (who, of course, gets the lead role) is outraged when the ending of the play is altered, and he and Arnold conspire to restore the play back to its original ending

92. Ghost Bride / Gerald vs. Jamie O

• After Gerald's urban tale, the kids go looking for a murderous ghost who's fiancee left her at the altar. The gang look for her in a cemetery-- but Helga and Curly, both have other ideas.
• Gerald acquires a crush on his new neighbor, Chloe. It turns out that she only spent time with Gerald to see Gerald's brother, Jamie-O.

93. A Day In The Life Of A Classroom / Big Bob's Crisis

• A film crew shoots a documentary of Mr Simmons' class to be screened on TV, but Simmons feels that they should follow a script, rather than be spontaneous
• Big Bob becomes brainwashed by a cult, and he and the family live without material possessions, much to Helga's horror

(the latter being the final episode to have all of the Pataki family in it)

94. Grandpa's Packard / Phoebe's Little Problem

• Grandpa's Packard gets stolen when it goes on display at an antique show
• Phoebe becomes the "butt" of jokes after passing wind in front of a microphone on stage.
