Everyone Wants to Direct

Everyone Wants to Direct is a horror-themed episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog, one of the first season's episode. It features Quentin Tarentino spoof Benton Tarentella, one of the recurring Courage villains.

Plot

The Bagges are interrupted watching television by a knock on the door, always a bad sign, which Courage senses. It is a strange looking man who tells them he is Benton Tarantella, a famous movie director. He tells them that he wants to use the farmhouse to set his newest movie blockbuster on. He says that if they act in it he will pay them tons of cash. Eustace of course agrees. However, he takes his glasses off, and his nose comes with it! Underneath Courage sees grotesque zombie-like features. In the basement, it becomes more and more obvious that Tarantella is not what he seems. He is overly-enthusiastic about the basement. The suspicious Courage checks up on him on the Computer, confirming that Tarentella is a zombie who died long ago. He also had a partner in crime, Von Volkien. Courage discovers his plan to resurrect his dead zombie partner when Mars lines up with the Moon. It would bring Von Volkien back to life. Von Volkien was buried beneath the farmhouse. Courage reads Tarentella's script and finds that Tarantella intends for him and Von Volkien to devour Muriel. Von Volkien rises from the dead, and two proceed to eat Muriel. Fortunately Courage altered Tarantella's script, making it look to Von Volkien that Tarantella plotted everything terribly. The two go back to the crypt.

• Benton Tarantella returns in a very different portrayel in season 3's episode Angry Nasty People.

• Benton Tarantella is clearly based on film director Quentin Tarentino.
