Otilio Warrington
Otilio Warrington a.k.a. Bizcocho (born 1941 in Santurce, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican comedian, best known for his roles of "Bizcocho" and "Cuca Gomez".
Otilio was aborn in a ghetto called Barrio Obrero in Santurce and when he was 6 years old, his family moved to the Llorens Torres public housing project. There he lived for the next 25 years of his life. He quit school when he was a teenager and made a living by polishing shoes at a local barbershop. One of the barbershops regular customers was Tommy Muñiz, a television show producer. Otilio once asked Mr. Muñiz for a job in television, however Mr. Muñiz told Otilio to go back to school and to see him after he graduated.
Otilio returned back to school and when he graduated from Central High School in 1960, he went back to Mr. Muñiz and took him up on his offer. Mr. Muñiz kept his word and let Otilio participate in the T.V. show "El Special de Corona". One of the shows sections had to do with a group of "wacky" soldiers and counted with the participation of Jose Miguel Agrelot and Jacobo Morales. When Otilio joined the group, Morales baptized him as soldier "Bizcocho" (Cake), a name that would stay with him forever.
Tommy Muñiz saw the potentcial in Otilio and offered to paid for his University education. Otilio attended the University of Puerto Rico and graduated with an associates degree (2years) in television direction and production.
Otilio participated in many local T.V. programs such as: "Ja ja ji ji jo jo con Agrelot" and "El Show del Mediodia" (The Midday Show). His wedding in Luis Vigoreaux show "Sube nene sube" was transmitted on national television.
Otilio joined ASTRA productions in the 1970's and after working for different shows, he finally landed a spot in " Cogiendo Impulso", transmitted through Channel 11. That's when he developed the characters of "Juancito" and "Pito".
It was in 1980, while working in the comedy "Kakukomicos", that Otilio developed the character of "Cuca Gomez". This was the character which would consolidate Otilio's fame as a great comedian. The character was about a female cosmetologist, who was involved in all kinds of hilarious situations. "Cuca Gomez" became very famous in Puerto Rico and soon appeared in other T.V. shows as a special guest star. In 1985, Otilio was named "Mr. Television" by the Artistic Association of Puerto Rico.
In the 1990's, Otilio was the protagonist of his own T.V. show called "Mi Familia" (My Family), where he acted as "Arcadio". He also worked in "El Show de las 12" (The 12 o'clock show) acting as "Don Ambroso" and "Yeyito".
