Sypnosis

The Doctor lands with Jo Grant on the planet of Peladon, just as it is being considered for joining the Galactic Federation. The Doctor is mistaken for the Earth Delegate and the other delegates are, Delegate Alpha Centauri, a hermaphrodite hexapod, Delegate Arcturus, a small green tentacled head in a machine box and the two delegates from Mars, Delegate Izlyr and Sub-Delegate Ssorg, the Ice Warriors. The mythical Curse Of Peladon is striking and first killed Chancellor Torbis who supported the move to join the Federation and now the Delegates are being attacked. Soon The Doctor is sentenced to death and is amazed that his only allies seem to be his old enemies, the Ice Warriors. He is sentenced to duel with the King's champion, Grun, and wins, but Arcturus attempts to kill him but Ssorg, the Ice Warrior kills Arcturus before he succeeds. Hepesh, the King's high priest captures the throne-room and reveals he was the one who was releasing Aggedor, their mythical creature. He threatens to kill the King but The Doctor bursts in with Ageddor and it kills Hepesh. King Peladon asks Jo to stay but she says she can't and leaves with The Doctor.
