Millport is a village located in Chemung County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 297.

The Village of Millport is within the Town of Veteran.

Geography

Millport is located at 42°16'3" North, 76°50'10" West (42.267634, -76.836122)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.9 km² (0.4 mi²). 0.9 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 297 people, 118 households, and 77 families residing in the village. The population density is 318.5/km² (821.0/mi²). There are 132 housing units at an average density of 141.6/km² (364.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 96.97% White, 0.00% African American, 1.01% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.34% from other races, and 1.68% from two or more races. 2.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 118 households out of which 32.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.9% are married couples living together, 13.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.9% are non-families. 28.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.52 and the average family size is 3.03.

In the village the population is spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.3 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $31,250, and the median income for a family is $40,500. Males have a median income of $26,875 versus $17,500 for females. The per capita income for the village is $15,739. 12.8% of the population and 6.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 17.0% of those under the age of 18 and 12.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
