Volin is a town located in Yankton County, South Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 207.

Volin is located at 42°57'28" North, 97°10'52" West (42.957852, -97.181049)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²). 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 207 people, 74 households, and 54 families residing in the town. The population density is 420.6/km² (1,068.5/mi²). There are 81 housing units at an average density of 164.6/km² (418.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 94.20% White, 0.00% African American, 3.86% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.93% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 74 households out of which 45.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.7% are married couples living together, 10.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.0% are non-families. 24.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.80 and the average family size is 3.35.
