Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English
See also: Wikipedia:Translation into English, Category:Pages needing translation
This page is a place to list foreign language articles on the English Wikipedia, to see if they can be translated before they are listed on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. If someone speaks the language the article is written in and can state that it is not worth translating, the item should be moved to VfD.

If the article is a mere copy of (all or part of) an article in a foreign-language Wikipedia, it can just get added to Wikipedia:Candidates for speedy deletion: we want to discourage people who cut articles from one Wikipedia and paste to another without translating. If the intent is to ask for a translation, the correct place to do that is Wikipedia:Translation into English.
If an article has been listed here for two weeks and is still untranslated, it should be moved to VfD. When moving items to VfD, the boilerplate text on the article should be changed from {{notenglish}} to {{subst:vfd}}.
When listing a page here, you might want to find the Wikipedia:Embassy or Ambassador member of the Wikipedia that relates to the language the article is in and invite them to move the page to their own Wikipedia. If you don't even know what language the article is in you could use Language recognition chart and if that fails some language recognition web site, such as xrce, to find out. Please leave a note on this page if you do this to prevent duplication of messages. If you have come here from another Wikipedia, please note on this page what you think should be done with the article.
If you can tell what language an article is written in, that might help.
Boilerplate text
For a page that needs translation in its entirety (so it would be appropriate to delete if not fixed):
- 1. Use the notice {{notenglish}} which will show up as:
This page needs translation into English. This page is written in a language other than English. If it is intended for readers from the community of that language, it should be contributed to the Wikipedia in that language. See the list of Wikipedias. |
- 2. Add a mention on this page.
If there is just a section that needs translation, that notice is inappropriate, so it's a little trickier:
- Use Category:Pages needing translation.
- Add an appropriate note at the top of the page in question, e.g.:
- ''Section [[#name-of-section|name-of-section]] contains text that needs translation into English.''
- Add a mention on this page.
Pages for consideration

Portuguese, the first paragraph can be found on Google, but apparently not the rest of it. Goplat 02:44, 3 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Someone mooning over a Brazilian TV actor. -- Jmabel | Talk 05:52, Dec 3, 2004 (UTC)
- Someone starstruck by some actress. Largely moony daydreaming about her appearance. Delete it. Anthony Appleyard 22:54, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Down to roughly stub length, about half translated, help appreciated. -- Jmabel | Talk 00:27, Dec 15, 2004 (UTC)

Some Slavic language. I'm not sure which. Sietse 09:40, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Probably Serbian, looks like it merits translation. Geo-stub. -- Jmabel | Talk 19:17, Dec 7, 2004 (UTC)
December 10
A one-sentence text in a foreign language, probably Turkish. The list of Provinces of Turkey says that Mersin is the capital of the Turkish İçel province. Sietse 21:25, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Looks like Italian. A Google translation suggests that its a dictdef and/or nonsense; could someone confirm? [[User:David Johnson|David Johnson [T|C]]] 16:36, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Looks like its about an Italian-language neologism; I didn't spend a lot of time on it, but the second half looks comic. Probably Italian Wiktionary, at best. -- Jmabel | Talk 22:02, Dec 11, 2004 (UTC)

Portuguese, seems to be about a village or municipality. Sietse 14:05, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, in Portugal. Not NPOV; I'd guess at least the first part of this is taken from somewhere (it begins with a welcome from the mayor), but can't find it via Google. -- Jmabel | Talk 03:57, Dec 13, 2004 (UTC)
- As in Rossio ao Sul do Tejo, this word freguesia, which I don't know... -- Jmabel | Talk 00:29, Dec 15, 2004 (UTC)
December 13
- Portuguese, on some village? AtonX 23:45, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)
December 14
- Turkish, partially copied from the website mentioned in the last part of the article. Not sure if this is a copyvio, since it's only a few sentences. Sietse 10:46, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)
December 16
- Eastern European. --Woggly 12:08, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Lithuanian. Andris 12:38, Dec 16, 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, Lithuanian. It's mostly understandable to me, but not entirely, I don't know, should I translate a part of it and leave some sentences as they are, or what? Solver 20:21, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Absolutely. I usually italicize the untranslated parts when I do this for the languages I half understand. -- Jmabel | Talk 02:30, Dec 17, 2004 (UTC)
- I did what I could, but had to remove a large portion of it, which turned out to be from a copyrighted source, but the article is now at least a half-decent stub, I hope. One untranslated phrase still. Solver 22:53, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Spanish, about a city in Argentina. Sietse 19:04, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)
One not terribly informative line of English, and a paragraph of ...Danish? -- Cyrius|✎ 21:38, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Translated pages that could still use some cleanup
Pages listed here are "mostly done" but could still use some attention from someone who approaches dual-native.
Ryukyuan songs
- Futami Jouwa -Ryukyuan folk song, originally noted 22 Apr 2004, could really use a running translation of the lyrics. -- Jmabel 05:19, 11 May 2004 (UTC)
- Subete no Hito no Kokoro ni Hana wo is much the same, but given that the writer seems to be still alive, I wonder whether there is a copyright issue? Tinsagu nu Hana does have a translation, but looks more suitable for Wikisource. --Henrygb 00:35, 3 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Refer to the Japanese version above(Subete no HIto...) . Ryukyu is not standard Japanese .--Jondel 07:12, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- I'm posting translation of Subete no Hito no Kokoroni Hana wo.--Jondel 07:26, 27 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Could someone who knows Japanese please try to sort out whether we have any copyright issues here, handle those as such, and leave a note here indicating the current status in terms of what work remains to do on these? Thanks. -- Jmabel | Talk 04:33, Oct 30, 2004 (UTC)
- Subete no ... was written by Shoukichi Kina; sorry, copyvio. --Aphaea 19:39, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Futami Jouwa says that the song is in the Okinawan language. That is a sort of Japanese, but a very non-standard dialect. Is there any USA GI here who has served on Okinawa and picked up the native language? Anthony Appleyard 22:57, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Or any Okinawan, perhaps? (BTW, the language is also known as Uchinanguchi. --Marnen Laibow-Koser (talk) 22:05, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC) P.S. to Anthony: qaleghqa'mo' jIQuch!
Surudi milli, the national anthem of Tajikistan, needs translation (which should be either following or side-by-side with the Tajik lyrics).
- I tried contacting the Tajik Embassy to the United States, but got no reply. -- Graham ☺ | Talk 00:10, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- I've linked the article to a translation I found on the web. I also removed the article from this Pages needing Translation category. I didn't paste the translation into the article itself because I'm unsure of the copyright issues involved... if someone's more knowledgable about copyright than me, feel free to address the issue. Andyabides 04:49, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)
All sections need attention - there is lack of natural prose. Original article is in Catalan at http://usuarios.lycos.es/uniocatalana/terralliure.html. Could be copy-vio.
Now a decent slightly-more-than-stub. Some material that was left in Albanian has been moved to the talk page, translation and inclusion would be welcome. -- Jmabel | Talk 04:22, Oct 30, 2004 (UTC)
Looks like Russian. —No-One Jones (m) 04:27, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Judging by the formulas, it doesn't contain more than the basic definitions. Gadykozma 22:59, 3 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I have machine-translated the article and tried to make some sense into it (machine : own values should be eigenvalues). However, a good mathematician has to do the final touch, because I haven't the slighest clue what this is all about (something about spectrums ?) JoJan 20:29, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Spectrum just means a specific range of possible values. It's about transforming square matrices to discover what multiple (eigenvalues) of the identity they can be changed into, with boundary conditions (von Neumann (static conditions - differentials (calculus) set to zero at a certain moment) and Diriclet (fixed value at a certain moment)). Dirichlet and von Neumann are just basic descriptive terms used all over the place. CheeseDreams 22:54, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- Copyvio? It's probably from here: [1] although I can't find the exact page. Didn't someone do this before with a similar text? Saintswithin 19:56, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)
