Mineral is an Austin, Texas emo band. After forming in 1994, they released two albums on crank! a record company, The Power Of Failing (1995) and End Serenading (1998). They broke up up shortly after the relesae of End Serenading. Although similar to pioneers Sunny Day Real Estate, in that they both shared a love for and in fact defined the poppier conventions in the emo music style, Mineral definitely stands by itself as an important band in the development of the modern-day emo music from the more hardcore-sounding emo.

Members of this band went on to form other bands after breaking up. Gabriel Wiley is a member of Pop Unknown, and worked with Scott McCarver on Imbroco for a brief period of itme. A slightly more successful project was formed by Christopher Simpson and Jeremy Gomez, the The Gloria Record.
