Seth Putnam (born May 15, 1968) is the founder of grindcore band Anal Cunt. He is also well-known for his side projects Angry Hate, Impaled Northern Moonforest, Satan's Warriors, Shit Scum, Vaginal Jesus, Mudoven, Full-Blown AIDS, Death's Head Quartet and You're Fired, among others.

Putnam is from Boston, Massachusetts and is of half Irish and half English descent. He has an intense hatred of Allston (due primarily to its association with college rock culture), which has been the subject of many Anal Cunt songs.

In the mid-1980s, Putnam played bass in the thrash metal band Executioner, which was fronted by the diminutive guitarist/vocalist Marc Johnson. During this time period, Putnam was well-known in the Boston metal scene for hating virtually all metal bands. Although he seemed to hate the music, Putnam would attend many speed metal and thrash concerts, moshing violently. On February 1, 1987, he was famously observed stage diving at a Dark Angel concert at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. According to eye witnesses, while Putnam was in mid-flight and flailing wildly, the crowd dispersed, sending Putnam crashing to the floor and landing on his head.

In 1996, Putnam had a falling out with Six Feet Under frontman and ex-Cannibal Corpse vocalist, Chris Barnes, after an alleged fight between the two and some of Barnes' roadies at a concert. Since then, Putnam has repeatedly challenged Barnes to a one-on-one fight, going as far as writing a song about how "Chris Barnes is a pussy." Barnes has yet to respond to this offer.

Putnam also had a falling out with Hatebreed. The fight began after Hatebreed were told to go on before Anal Cunt at New England Metal and Hardcore Festival 2000 which angered many Anal Cunt fans. Jamey Jasta then responded to the crowd by claiming Hatebreed were more popular, sold more records than Anal Cunt, ranted that grindcore "sucked" and that hardcore was the only good form of heavy music. Jasta later spotted Putnam and a verbal altercation began. Putnam claimed that Hatebreed's friends then formed a circle and began to punch each other. Some of his lyrics take stabs at Hatebreed; he also claims they lie about him frequently.

In October 2004, Putnam had a seizure and fell into a coma for two months due to an overdose of crack cocaine, heroin, alcohol, and two months' worth of Ambien sleeping pills. He was unable to reveal this information at the time due to pending charges of drug use, which were later dropped. His doctors, thinking he was going to be a vegetable for the rest of his life, were actively considering removing him from life support before he awoke. He has since received rehabilitation.

In 2006, Anal Cunt embarked on another tour. During all of these shows, Seth Putnam had to sit in a chair during the concert, but was adamant about continuing to include songs like "You're In A Coma" and songs making fun of the disabled in his inventory.

On March 3rd, 2006, he played with Anal Cunt standing up.

Seth Putnam guested on Pantera's The Great Southern Trendkill. [1]

Seth also takes time out to reply to his fans' emails.

Though he has stated that he's "starting to hate music nowadays", when asked what his favourite music acts are, a few he mentioned were Bathory, Hellhammer, Damien Storm (whom Putnam especially vilifies), Thor, and The Village People.

Anal Cunt is a hard rock band from the United States. They are often referred to by their initials A.C. due to the perceived—indeed intended—offensive nature of their name; many of their album covers simply displaying the initials A.C. Their musical catalog consists almost entirely (barring the Picnic of Love album, as well as cover songs) of ridiculously offensive material. The band has often been criticized for its popularity being based solely on their controversial song titles and lyrics rather than any musical ability, and is often mentioned when a debate is being made against the grindcore genre of music. One ongoing dispute is how much Anal Cunt actually believes in what they say on their albums.
