Bezhti in Panjabi "dishonour" is the title of a play curtailed through demonstrations from the Sikh Community in Birmingham.

It raised a large number of questions about the relationship between free speech and religion.

The cause of the dispute, however, was more prosaic. The theatre management asked the local Sikh leaders what they thought about the play then ignored them. This caused considerable upset which would not have occurred in the same way if there had not been so many consultation meetings.
