Boon Keng MRT Station (NE9) is located on the North East Line on the Mass Rapid Transit system in Singapore. The station is fully underground and is run by SBS Transit. It is located at Boon Keng Road and Serangoon Road, and near the Whampoa River. Art in Transit at this station (Metamorphosis by Lim Poh Teck) features a bright tropical-themed painting on the concourse level, consisting of icons of everyday life used in the past and present.

History

A part of a building, the Bendemeer Shopping Mall had to be demolished to make way for the construction of this station. The remaining portion of the building continues to be used for retail purposes today.

Some landmarks near Boon Keng MRT station include the Kallang River and Dreams@Kolam Ayer.

Shops and facilities

  • There used to be a small convenience store (7-11) in the station, but was removed some time in mid-2006.
