Living persons
OK. I will remember that. I just remember reading in wikipedia somewhere that, so to prevent possiblity of lawsuits in this area, to list a person as living if the article does not have a reputable source indicating otherwise.
Wikipedia:WikiProject Pak-Afghan Relations
Thanks Badbilltucker for adding Wikipedia:WikiProject Pak-Afghan Relations to WikiProject Council,
It needs expansion. and it is part of WikiProject Politics.

Bot request
Hi - that's fine - as an idea, I can put the date of the last edit into the output able as well, if that would help? I'll try to get the bot on WP:BRFA on Sunday or Monday. Thanks, Martinp23 18:03, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- No problem at all - I'll keep you updated and direct you to any trails I run -- Martinp23 18:45, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi - as promised, here is a link to a trial I ran User:MartinBotII/WPStability - however the problem is that the list is about 5410 long (ie - very big page to load!). Would it be better to omit all pages which are sup-pages of others (by searching for the "/" character, making an exception for projects containing a / in thier name)? Thanks -- Martinp23 21:08, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

re: WikiProject Council
Thanks for the welcome! I just stumbled upon its existence when I went in to check the list of WikiProjects for something. I think there are a lot of interesting issues to discuss, some mundane (like the number of long-term residents of the Proposals list) and some more important (like the interaction among WikiProjects whose scopes overlap). I look forward to participating in some discussions, and I will look over the to-do list when I have some free time. --Aguerriero (talk) 18:26, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, unfortunately I only noticed that after I had already edited about 100 articles.--CarabinieriTTaallkk 20:31, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
I just found this, and noticed that you posted about possibly of deleting it (on this page). What is your opinion on what should be done with the project? -- kenb215 talk 02:10, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- I created a subpage (User:Kenb215/Projects/WProject Method engineering cleanup) to try and organize the work that I feel should be done. What do you think about it/its purpose? -- kenb215 talk 18:52, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

My RFA!
Badbilltucker, thank you so much for your support for my RfA. I passed with a vote tally of 61/0/1. I am honored that the consensus was to allow me the added privilege of the admin mop. I appreciate your support and kind words on my RFA! --plange 23:09, 22 October 2006 (UTC) |
New directory
Hmm, something that just occured to me: because all of the [main listing here] links in the draft directory point to the current directory, are we going to get updates to the old one rather than the new one, because people will get confused over which page they're editing? Maybe it would be better to move over the draft immediately, so that we don't get out-of-sync versions? Kirill Lokshin 21:47, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Good question. I did omit to mention that in the note I sent out. I'm willing to do so if you think it's the right thing to do. B2T2 22:53, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think that may be the best thing to do, given that we had a flurry of updates to the old directory that could hardly have been coincidental. I'm reasonably certain that we won't lose any major information by changing over immediately, and I think it will make things easier for the people doing the updates if all the links point where they should. Project list
BBT, I have updated details about India project and it's workgroups. You are doing a fantastic job in collecting all the projects in one place. I came know there is project named "Goa" from that list. Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 00:07, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject:Biography's Workgroups
The Workgroups should probably be added to the the directory of WikiProjects - for example, currently WikiProject Biography's Politicians workgroup is the main place for politician work, largely superceding the inactive Wikipedia:WikiProject United States politicians. --Tim4christ17 talk 10:37, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Shazam Award
Hiya, Badbill. You've done some good digging into comics history. I've got a merger proposal up at Shazam Award, and I hope you get a chance to look at it. I left a note on that article's Talk page, which I'll bringing forward here to get your comments and input: In the print materials I have on file, I haven't found any source listing the nominations. The info clearly looks real, and I suspect you have 'zines of the era that gave them in news roundups, so could you through in a citation and a References section? Thanks! --Tenebrae 23:46, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Re-run
Hi - I've re-run the task on User:MartinBotII to update the list showing project stability - you can see it here - in the revision before the current one, all sub-pages were included - I presumed that this wasn't wanted (please tell me if this is wrong :)). I've got an idea about it - perhaps the total number of stable and unstable projects above the table(?). It's also worth saying that any wikiprojects which exclusively use transclusion on their main pages will, inevitably, appear more stable. IMO, the 90 day limit maay need to be reduced slightly, unless it is set in stone :S -- Martinp23 19:29, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Oh - I'm sorry about that - I'll program the bot to use "Active" and "Inactive" instead of "Unstable" and "Stable". Just to confirm - would you like the sub pages to be excluded from the results? I'll re run the bot tomorrow, to try to get the right results :) Thanks, Martinp23 21:08, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Anthro wikiproject
I was just thinking about that yesterday. Basically, I started the whole idea when I was off on summer break, then I started school and all my aspirations on wikipedia kinda dropped off. But I would be glad to try and start it up, and would love some help. I probably can't get around to it for a few days at the earliest. WikiProject Merger
Unfortunately, our name itself is already meaningless. We cover Cryptozoology, which isn't strictly paranormal, and ghosts, which some consider supernatural. There's occasionally talk of renaming it WikiProject Weird, but the general consensus is that that would simply offend everyone involved. "Paranormal Investigation" would be asking for trouble, as well, since we already have some problems with people wanting to discuss their own paranormal experiences on the Project talk page. I do see what you're saying, but I still think the fact that they're essentially a subset of our project needs to be addressed (they exist to NPOV paranormal pages...which is obviously something we do, as well). Thanks, though. --InShaneee 14:57, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Bot
Hi - I've got the bot running an update now (I was having some errors last time - interent connection problems I think). The only problem is that this page will be huge - with 7908 entries (all subpages included, and those with minor edits included too (that was a bug in the last one - didn't recognise pages which had a minor edit on top)). I'm happy to keep it running now, but if you;d prefer a different approach, feel free to say :-) (a seperate list fo "new pages" will be generated by the bot, for ease of access :)) Martinp23 21:37, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Oh - it's no problem :) I was more worried about a web-browser's ability to load the page than the bot's time! I had a "coding urge" just after I started the bot, so I had to stop it an write another task. So your bit gets done, I'm going to put it on my server overnight (and pray for no errors). Thanks, Martinp23 22:47, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- :( There was an error - it could be because I'm testing in mono, or could be a transfer induced error. Either way, I can't fix it right now - sorry. I'll run it tomorrow (I'm also sending you an email). Martinp23 23:19, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Oops - nevermind - your email isn't set/is hidden. If it's hidden, and you can send me an email, I'll be very appreciative (as I can then send you an email about something I can really only say off-wiki). Thanks, Martinp23 23:21, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi - I managed to get it going on the server, and it's completed now - see User:MartinBotII/WPStability. At the top, there is also a link to pages created within the last 30 days. Hope this helps (and let me know when you need it doing again!) -- Martinp23 17:37, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Pity you never heard of it, you should try them. Program glitch
The program somehow shifted me into one of the other skin styles and refuses to allow me to return to monobook default. And I mean REFUSES. I've tried to change it several times with no results. What do I do? Badbilltucker 20:06, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Have you tried a hard reload? (Ctrl-F5 or Ctrl-Shift-R after changing your preferences)? Should you have trouble accessing your preferences, you can use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Preferences?useskin=monobook . Hope that helps, Kusma (討論) 20:26, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- (edit conflict):I'm not sure, so I'm leaving the helpme. Just to check - have you tried Ctrl-F5, and shutting down the browser and restarting it? Also try logging out and checking your logged out skin. These are only guesses, I'm afraid. Martinp23 20:29, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- When you're not logged, do you stay on that skin? -- lucasbfr talk 21:05, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes. Actually, I can't get the my preferences page to respond to anything I want it to do, so I can't actually say which skin I am currently using, just one I've never seen before. It seems to have a first sidebar containing "user page", "discussion", "edit this page", "+", "history", "move", and "unwatch". But, like I said, I can't get the "my preferences" link to respond at all, so I can't be sure which skin this is. Badbilltucker 21:08, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Rating for Peter, the Lord's cat
Hi Bill,
I'd welcome your comments at Talk:Peter, the Lord's cat/Comments on your rating for Peter, the Lord's cat. I didn't know how to rate it because it's very short but also (as far as I can see) pretty much complete. Thanks, Stephen Turner (Talk) 14:30, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

SD WikiProject Work
Thank you for all the work you've been putting in on the South Dakota WikiProject. I've been really busy with SD election stuff and haven't been online much. And thanks for moving the project out from my userspace. I had started adding banners because I read it was a good way to advertise, but I didn't think that it would be bad while the project was still a proposal. So thanks for all you've done. Starting tomorrow, I'll have time to pull my weight. - Lex 21:38, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Anton Alexander von Werner
I hope you don't mind that I re-rated him from Top to Mid-importance. While this picture is certainly famous, I don't think he's in the same league as Otto von Bismarck and Johann Wolfgang Goethe. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 23:19, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Strangely enough, {{GA-artists}} automatically includes pages in Category:Wikipedia CD Selection - People no matter how important they are (whatever "importance" means), perhaps as a way to populate the CD selection? Kusma (討論) 06:33, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- That would explain his inclusion and that of several others, then. On that basis, I have no objection to his stating mid-importance or at any other level. Badbilltucker 13:49, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Yay, thank you for the Wikipedia:WikiProject History of photography template! But having said that, I have to drop out temporarily, as it's very late, I'm very sleepy, and tomorrow promises to be one of the most gruesome days of the year. A bit later, though, I hope to start splattering your template on talk pages. (Tell me a few names you like and I'll do them first.) -- Hoary 15:38, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

From the recent pattern of edits on your user page, it looks like you might be editing without being logged in. Just wanted to bring it to your attention! -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 21:40, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- You're right, too many screens open. I've corrected it now. Thanks for calling it to my attention. Badbilltucker 21:41, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
No problem! Normally I assume that edits to a user page from an anon IP are vandalism. But in this case, the edits didn't say "you suck!", so I looked at it a bit more carefully. :-) -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 21:51, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
BAE Systems
Hi, thanks for adding the WikiProject Aircraft template. I take no offence from you adding a "B-Class" rating - It's neither a FA or GA. However I'm working toward a FA for the article and would welcome any pointers you have; important missing topics, factual errors, etc. Many thanks, Mark83 00:17, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- All excellent suggestions, thanks very much. Regarding BAE/BAe: perhaps the best solution would be to use the abbreviation BAE, but extend the few "BAe" abbreviations to British Aerospace. Regarding the board: I'll do a quick review of their bio's and write at least a stub on any notable ones and remove any non-notable links. Thanks again. Mark83 14:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Apologies
I was not trying to create a problem and pick a fight with you and I apologize for having reverted the talk page. Alyeska 00:16, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- For what little it might be worth, having looked over another talk page, I believe that statement may only apply when the comments being deleted are clearly out of bounds in terms of civility or something else. In general, unless the comments on the talk page are in some way semi-official or related to some sort of official action, any and all comments can be removed. Several editors have a habit of removing any and all comments requesting action (fix spelling, whatever), as soon as action is taken. Those rules do not necessarily apply in instances where there is no form of official or semi-official action implied or expected. Badbilltucker 00:46, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- I see. Well my preferred method is to leave all text and entries in the discussion page because its the real history of what happened. I have nothing to hide and I find the open ability to see and view the discussion allows for honest opinion and potential growth. But to each his own. As I said, I didn't mean to cause you trouble. I reposted our conversation on my talk page for simplicity to make it easy to know what we discussed. Alyeska 02:04, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
WikiProject University of Virginia
I have no problem having my WikiProject userfied... my problem is that other Universities much smaller (see Ohio Wesleyen University) and the same amount of members was around much longer than the one I created and is still active. It's not even a public institution! Who decides which universties are scoped well enough to continue and those that aren't... if you don't think a University is a large enough scope that is fine by me... but be equitable and userfy them all as opposed to picking and choosing the flavor of the week. Jazznutuva 13:15, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with you... and I was unfortunately shooting the messenger because I could not find the discussion chain for the deletion... it's just annoying when you make the effort to do something and they don'y give it more than 3 days to mature without checking out other projects under the same scope and leave them sit there without any activity. I speant a lot of time researching to make sure that other projects had the same scope as mine before investing hours to create it... and I had found ones smaller which were not as active. Thanks for responding. Jazznutuva 14:13, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Too big
I was thinking more of North America and Canada. Having two continents creates too big of a division in the project. I am open to the idea of incorporating Central Amrica though. XYZ CrVo 22:22, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
No I won't/don't. I listen to you because you know wikipedia much better than I do. I ask myself if your answers are logical and they are. Besides I usaully can't think of anything better than what you say.
