36 China Town is a Bollywood film directed by Abbas-Mustan. The film is a murder mystery which stars Akshaye Khanna, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Upen Patel. The film was released in May 2006. It was considered a failure by critics but still managed to to be moderately successful on a commercial level. The directors, amongst the top-most directors in India, were criticised for making such a bad movie.
The film follows the investigation of a policeman (played by Akshaye Khanna) who has to solve a murder mystery.
Synopsis
Template:Spoiler 36 China Town is owned by a successful business woman called Sonia Chang(Isha Koppikar). Having achieved everything, she only cares about one thing- her son. When her son goes missing, she is distraught and offers a huge reward to anyone who can find her son.
Soon Raj (Shahid Kapoor) and Priya (Kareena Kapoor) stumble upon each other and they find the missing child. They decide to split the reward money. They make their way towards Sonia's house. By the time they get there it is late and to there shock and horror they find her dead. They flee the mansion but Priya ends up leaving her suitcase there, she is soon suspected of murder and placed at the crime scene, as is Raj. That same suitcase falls into the hands of KK (Johnny Lever) and his wife, but in it is the dead body of Sonia!
When the Police Inspector Karan(Akshaye Khanna) comes to investigate the murder, he has many different suspects and evidence against them all, but who really committed the murder? The people also suspected as the muderer are Priya, Raj, Rocky, KK, Natwar, Gracy, Mr. and Ms. Lobo, the people who work for Sonia Chang and Ruby. The murderers turn out to be Mr. and Ms. Lobo.
