- The Montreal Alouettes defeat the Edmonton Eskimos 25 to 16 to win the Grey Cup.
- Tiger Woods wins his third Masters golf tournament.

- War Emblem wins the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, but loses a chance for the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing by losing to Sarav in the Belmont Stakes.
