What is Wikipedia?
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia written collaboratively by its readers. You're welcome to add to articles, or start a new one. You're also free to copy, change or distribute articles. This model is called a wiki.
How can this work?
Thousands of people are constantly improving Wikipedia, making hundreds of changes an hour, so it becomes bigger and better every day.
All changes are recorded on the page history and the Recent Changes page. Nonsense and vandalism are usually removed quickly.
How can I help?
Be bold and start editing! Anyone can edit. Don't worry about breaking Wikipedia or about whether your writing is proper — if needed, it can be improved later.
Usernames
Anyone can contribute to Wikipedia, even anonymous users, but many users have decided to create a username of their own. Why create an account? Making a username allows members to take credit for their contributions, participate in polls and votes, and create their own userpage. To create a username of your own, go to Special:Userlogin.
