Majus (literally meaning fire-worshipper in Arabic) is a derogatory term used by Muslim Arabs to describe Iranians, and more specifically Persians.[1] It is also used as a term of scorn against polytheists in general [1]. The word is in reference to the Zoroastrian faith, the adherents of which revere (but do not worship) fire and light as symbols of Divinity. The regime of Saddam Hussein often employed this term in their anti-Iranian propaganda during the Iran-Iraq War [2].
