Tatiana (full name Tatiana Palacios Chapa) was born on December 12, 1968 to parents José Ramón Palacios Ortega and Diana Perla Chapa de Palacios. Her parents are Mexican citizens, native to Monterrey, Mexico, but she was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania because her father was attending the University of Pennsylvania at the time. Under U.S. and Mexican law, Tatiana is a dual citizen of Mexico and the USA. The family soon returned to Mexico, and Tatiana grew up in Monterrey, where she currently lives.

Tatiana began her artistic career at an early age, but her first starring role was in 1984's Kumán, a rock opera about a Tarzan-like character. Then she made several pop albums, most notably "Chicas de Hoy", achieving in this period of her career 15 gold records and 4 platinum records during the 1980s and early 1990s. She also participated in several local soap operas and was the star in some movies; but it wasn't until she began to record albums fully dedicated to children songs that an international boost and recognition was achieved, and so far she has obtained 23 gold records, 7 platinum and 4 diamond. She hosted a children's show, El Espacio de Tatiana, on the Mexican network Televisa from 1997 to 2001. She also has a contract from The Walt Disney Company.

However, her greatest achievement is having revolutionized the structure, message and content of the traditional infantile song, changing it from typical singalong and repetition of funny phrases that toddlers can easily follow, into real and credible musical statements, without ever compromising her target audience. This feature has never been done by any international artist in this field before. These feats have been gradually developed during her most recent albums, culminating in her last Release "El Regalo".

It can also be added that Tatiana has a unique, soft, warm and trained voice.

On June 29, 1990, Tatiana married Andrés Puentes, a Mexico City disco owner. On May 30, 2001, soon after the birth of her second child, she left her husband, and this acrimonious breakup has been a frequent feature in Latin American celebrity gossip columns from 2001 to the present. There have been continuing court battles and accusations relating to this breakup and subsequent fights for custody of her two children (Cassandra, born May 11, 1994, and Andrik, born May 23, 2001) and ownership of the intellectual property related to her entertainment career (Puentes was Tatiana's manager as well as her husband). She has, however, managed to get her career as a singer and actress back on track, releasing new albums and acting as the mermaid Coral on a Mexican telenovela, Amy, la Niña de la Mochila Azul.
