Wikipedia:Requests for investigation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Tannin (talk | contribs) at 15:39, 16 May 2003 (Yes, Martin: some signs of him being OK). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

The purpose of this page is to provide instant notice of vandalism taking place. You can use the format under the Current Alerts heading: IP address, pages touched, damage done. If you don't want to call attention to your report, be sure to check the box marked "this is a minor edit" (so it won't show up in most users' recent changes).

For a list of currently blocked IPs and the reason why they were blocked, visit: Special:Ipblocklist.

If you would like to look up information about the vandal's IP please visit http://network-tools.com/ and enter in the IP.

However, please do not label isolated instances of text deletions, replacements or odd additions as VANDALISM unless they are overtly lewd or offensive. More often than not, this is just a visitor to the site experimenting with how to use it -- labeling them as a VANDAL is a sure way of ensuring they will not become contributors. Only add alerts to this page of true VANDALISM such as a systematic attack on several articles. Above all, please be polite at first and give the person the benefit of the doubt until they prove they deserve otherwise.

If you disagree with someone's edits, please see the following pages:

Note: Please add new alerts at the top of this list.

  • 147.31.4.3 is vandalizing many pages by adding bogus information - e.g. in Canadian Space Program he added a non-existing astronaut, in Bill Clinton nonsense about his impeachment. andy 14:40 16 May 2003 (UTC)
    • Note that this guy/gal has also made some decent edits as well, so please don't ban or go on a reversion spree. I notice that sie fixed hir own vandalism on vagina, which is a good sign. Martin 15:35 16 May 2003 (UTC)
      • Yes. I'll undo Brion's existing ban, and give the guy a chance. We can always ban him again if he goes silly. Keep your eyes open. Tannin 15:39 16 May 2003 (UTC)

User:66.129.40.177 has a short list of contributions, all of which are graffiti or vandalism. -- Heron

It isn't malicious vandalism, but it must be stopped. 217.235.14.62 did a fine job adding ISO information to existing articles, but is now creating articles with only ISO information in them. The information is really not that important to create articles with only ISO information in them. Kingturtle 03:34 May 6, 2003 (UTC)

Okay, maybe I jumped the gun a little bit. 217.235.14.62 seems to have responded to my request for him/her to only add ISO info to existing articles. But please watch. Kingturtle 03:37 May 6, 2003 (UTC)

Crumple zone contains nonsense (don't know if it's just testing or vandalism) Samw 03:18 May 6, 2003 (UTC)

please consider silencing User:Walrus for 24 hours. Each of his/her new articles have had to be deleted. Kingturtle 00:02 May 5, 2003 (UTC)

International relations theory seems to have been vandalised. Could someone revert, please - I'm not quite certain how to do this. Arno 07:26 Apr 30, 2003 (UTC)

    • Hmmf! This article is hard going even when reverted! Arno 12:16 May 10, 2003 (UTC)

64.12.96.12 vandalised Single-party state twice with Finally Paul Morton's weiner is huge. All the girls want to suck on it. They want him to fuck their hot pussies untiol they are tired! ÉÍREman 22:19 Apr 28, 2003 (UTC)

  • Did he provide a citation? If not, delete it and ask him to NPOV it. -º¡º
    • Don't worry I did a babbit to it and chopped it off cleanly. Maybe we should ask him for a jpeg and place it on the physical deformities page. ÉÍREman 01:34 Apr 29, 2003 (UTC)
    • Good. I'm suspicious anyway, a google search on "Paul Morton's weiner" returns zero hits. -º¡º
  • Following the deletion of the previous entry Rory Storm, 67.31.228.18 has recreated it with garbage content: does the origin of the salute have anything to do with a subordinate soldier maintaining a relatively defenseless position in the presence of a superior officer JUST IN CASE THE SUPERIOR OFFICER DEEMED IT NECESSARY TO EXECUTE THE SUBORDINATE ON THE SPOT..... this having also to do with the Romans' attempt to eliminate all left-handed babies, making all soldiers right-handed, and then forcing them to hold a right-handed salute in the presence of a superior officer until the superior officer allowed them to return to this or that non-saluting disposition -- Arwel 01:10 Apr 26, 2003 (UTC)
  • 207.28.99.82 created new entry Rory Storm with the sole content GOOD CHARLOTTE. Seems to be this address' sole entry. Looks suspicious, anyone know anything about Rory Storm? -- Arwel 20:38 Apr 25, 2003 (UTC)
He led a skiffle group in the 1960s. No relevence I can see. -- Infrogmation 01:25 Apr 26, 2003 (UTC)
I thought the name was familiar! I know "Good Charlotte" is a current popular beat combo, M'Lud, but no relation to our Rory :-). Thanks for deleting the entry again. -- Arwel 01:31 Apr 26, 2003 (UTC)
I'll work on a Rory Storm article soon. When you hear the few tracks of his band, it is quite amazing how much artistic influence they had on the beatles. Ringo was the drummer of Rory's band before switching over to the Beatles. Kingturtle 21:28 Apr 29, 2003 (UTC)

  • 63.105.22.154 has been making 3/4's nonsense changes so far. Please ban, and revert all changes to articles on which it is the last author. user_talk:hfastedge
    • Seems taken care of; still existing edits okay. -- Infrogmation 01:25 Apr 26, 2003 (UTC)

68.78.105.255 and 206.148.78.98 are apparently sharing a single brain, mostly putting wikis in articles that direct to YOUR MOTHER. -- goatasaur

  • 68.161.238.220 is blanking MASSIVE amounts of articles, mostly dealing with Laos. He needs to be quickly banned. -- goatasaur. Actually I think this user is deleting his own articles which have been ruled to be violations of copyright. Chadloder 01:08 Apr 18, 2003 (UTC)
    • He is blanking articles that many other people have worked on in conjunction with him. Wanton blanking of others' work (even in an article you have contributed to) is against the rules. -- goatasaur
      • He appears to have stopped now. The deletions have been reverted (and in some cases, rephrased to avoid any potential copyright problems) so there seems no need for further action. Tannin 01:49 Apr 18, 2003 (UTC)
  • 216.39.137.110 the noted vandal with the predeliction for the Ptolemy Dynasty and fictious Cleopatras has reappeared. Only one vandalism so far, but expect more. -- Someone else 22:41 Apr 17, 2003 (UTC)
    • I blocked that IP address right off the bat, but he's been known to use more than one, so keep an eye out regardless. -- John Owens 22:44 Apr 17, 2003 (UTC)
