Gyllene Tider is a Swedish pop band. Even since they haven't produced any new material they are still extremely popular in Sweden. Their biggest hits get played on the radio from time to time. Especially in late spring and early summer is the tune Sommartider played and few Swedes do not recognize the line "sommartider Hej, Hej sommartider".

Sometime before 1978 Per Gessle met Mats Persson who played in Audiovisuellt Angrepp and they form the duo Grape Rock. Later Micke Andersson and Janne Carlsson gets added and the quartett is born.

In 1979 they release the LP Gyllene Tider which becomes a great success in Sweden. Flickorna på TV2 is the biggest hit on that album. The groups name changes to the somewhat more tempting name Gyllene Tider and an epoch is born.

The second album is released in 1981 by the name Moderna Tider and it is a huge success. It is followed up by a national tour. The next year Puls is released with the hit Sommartider.

The group tries to break through at the American market in 1984 with the album Heartland Café under the name Roxette. But it fails and the album flops.

In 1989 the group officially breaks up. But in the years following a few "Greatest hits" albums is released and a few reunions take place. In particular their comeback tour in 1996 which turns out to be the greatest tour in Sweden ever. After 18 years Gyllene Tider is bigger than ever.
