Adam Dutkiewicz is best known as one of the guitarists (along with Joel Stroetzel and backup vocalist from Massachusetts metalcore band Killswitch Engage.

Dutkiewicz attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston, where he studied production, engineering, and bass guitar.[1][2] While at college, he began playing in the band Aftershock with friend Joel Stroetzel. Stroetzel would later join Dutkiewicz, Mike D'Antonio, and Jesse Leach in forming Killswitch Engage. Dutkiewicz was the drummer of Killswitch Engage, until the release of its second album, Alive or Just Breathing,[3] when he moved to guitars, and Tom Gomes became the band's drummer.

He has assumed the role of producer on all of Killwitch Engage's records.[3] He has also produced for the bands Underøath,[4] The Acacia Strain,[5] Unearth,[6] All That Remains,[7] From Autumn to Ashes,[3] Johnny Truant,[8] Parkway Drive,[9] The Agony Scene,[3] Every Time I Die[3] and others. He is also an engineer for Zing Studios, which has produced for numerous artists, including several from Tooth & Nail and Solid State Records.[2]

Dutkiewicz is known for his coarse humour during live performances, often involving references to sexual acts, bodily functions and swearing.

Adam has a side project called Burn Your Wishes, with Ken Susi of Unearth.[10]

Surprisingly, he claims to be interested in pop music rather than heavy metal, citing the Scottish band Travis as one of his favorite artists.[11]

Equipment

Dutkiewicz uses Caparison PLM-3 guitars with EMG pickups (81 in the bridge, two SA single coils in the middle and neck positions), Maxon AD9 Delay and Maxon OD808 Overdrive, and Hughes and Kettner Triamps, with Mesa and Hughes & Kettner 4x12 Cabinets, both loaded with Celestian Vintage 30s. He also uses a Senheiser EW100 Wireless Unit, as well as Samson Powerbrite Pro, a Korg DTR-2000 Rack Tuner, and a Highes & Kettner Triamp Footswitch. [3] Before using a Caparison guitar he used a Fender Stratocaster with a Twin blade humbucker that replaced the single coil on the bridge.[citation needed]

More recently, Dutkiewicz has been known to use Framus Cobra amps instead of the Hughes and Kettner Triamps.
