WJJX was a student-run radio station of the University of Michigan. The station was launched in 1953.[1] In 1987 a DJ there attracted controversy by allowing racist jokes to air on his program.[2][3] The station was shut down for a month following the incident.[2] It was shut down permanently in the 1990s.
