Lists of national symbols
A national emblem is a symbol that represents a nation. It may or may not appear on the national flag. It is usually something from the natural world, eg. an animal or bird, but can be any object.
The official national emblems of nations of the world in alphabetical order :
- Canada - a maple leaf
- England - a rose
- France - a rooster; also Marianne
- Germany - a black eagle
- India - the Lion Capital at Sarnath of Ashoka
- Ireland - a harp
- Poland - a white eagle
- Russia - a two-headed black eagle
- Scotland - a thistle
- United States - the American bald eagle
- Wales - a daffodil or leek
