Cuesta College is located on the Central Coast of California in the community of San Luis Obispo (SLO). This award-winning campus[citation needed] surrounded by mountains, hiking trails, golden beaches[citation needed], and over 80 New World wine producing vineyards [citation needed] makes it understandable why students have a strong reason to enroll in this dynamic College[citation needed].
Cuesta College is a well respected school that produces the highest student transfer rate to the combined California State University/University of California systems of any community college in the state of California.[citation needed] While many of these transfer students end up at neighboring Cal Poly many go on to enroll in Universities around the United States.[citation needed] The fall semester 2006 was an enrollment milestone for Cuesta College as it had the highest overall student enrollment in it's forty three year history (11,562 students)[citation needed].
This two year college located in San Luis Obispo County is know for its academic excellence, beautiful campus and unique natural environment. Six miles north of the campus are the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and six miles south of the campus is the historic city of San Luis Obispo[citation needed]. Cuesta College, an accredited member of the California Community Colleges system, can be reached from the famous California Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway).
Cuesta College is not just an award-winning education it is a SLO way of life![citation needed]
One of its most notable former students is actor Gabrielle Union, who transferred to the college from the University of Nebraska and eventually left it for the University of California, Los Angeles.[citation needed]
Athletics
In athletics, Cuesta fields 7 sports for men, and 9 for women. The school's athletic mascot is the Cougar, and the school colors are green and white.
