Shoreham, Michigan
Shoreham is a village located in Berrien County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 860. The village is located within St. Joseph Charter Township on the shore of Lake Michigan, just south of the City of St. Joseph.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 860 people, 423 households, and 233 families residing in the village. The population density is 582.5/km² (1,505.8/mi²). There are 471 housing units at an average density of 319.0/km² (824.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 92.44% White, 2.09% African American, 0.23% Native American, 3.72% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.81% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 0.93% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 423 households out of which 18.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.5% are married couples living together, 4.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 44.7% are non-families. 40.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 24.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.03 and the average family size is 2.74.
