Calvin Simon was a member of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic. He originally began as one of the Parliaments, a doo wop barbershop quintet alongside George Clinton. Along with Fuzzy Haskins and Grady Thomas, Simon released an album called Connections and Disconnections, using the name "Funkadelic" after leaving the rest of the group due to financial and personal disputes with Clinton. The rival Funkadelic group did not last long, and only released the one album.
