There are many opportunities to volunteer towards India wikipedia content. Here are some of the them:

Adopt an India category

You could adopt a root level category under Category:India and focus your efforts on it. One can find out more about adopting an India category here.

To do list

• Better a dozen articles to reach featured article grade. For starters we could support ashwatha who is making Mahatma Gandhi a feature grade article .
• Edit the new current events page Indian_Current_events on a regular basis.
• Enlist support and bootstrap Indian Collaboration of the Week.
• Start an Indian collaboration of the week (see talk page).
• Enumerate articles that 'need' to be added.
• Proofread articles about areas of India for writing style (many of them don't flow well).
• Turn India related stubs into full articles.
• Start India /Category_Adoptions. Seek volunteers for the root level categories.
• Initiate drive to structure Category:India with other wikipedians.
• Initiate wikipedia:wikiprojects for the 7 largest Indian cities.
• Find a better way to list and track todos on the noticeboard.
• Projectise India efforts: Set schedule goals for key India initatives. Suggestions please.

Tasks related to specific articles

High priority

• Add information on all major Indian cities and clean up matter on Indian states. Pictures desperately needed.
• Expand and improve Supreme Court of India article
• Expand Indian independence movement. I think the article needs more information about other freedom fighters too, and their contributions. IMO some pictures of bhagat singh etc. would be nice. also I think it needs more information in the independence section. that is too small. This article is still scanty on many of the details during 1940 to 1947.
• Expand article on Indian Economy. Current article is too small, concentrates just a section on liberalisation and none on role of agriculture, 5 year plans, PSU's,etc., See Economy of the United States as an example.
• Indian Railways is in shambles. Let's contribute to it as it is an integral part of our lives.
• Indian army, Indian navy and Indian Air Force can do with more detail.

Lower Priority

• State Bank of India, the largest bank in India is a stub now.
• Do we have an article on 2002 India train fire [1]
• Add articles on famous and landmark cases (Nanavathi Murder case, Shah Bano divorce case, Navin Jindal (flag code judgement), Barbara Taylor Bradford vs. Sahara, etc.,
• Work on Indian coinage (on the lines of British coinage and United States coinage) and Indian banknotes (see British banknotes). The images of coins can be used from WorldCoin using {{WorldCoin}} and {{money}}
• Women In Hinduism needs to be extensively NPOVed. Article tends to confuse modern Indian problems with ancient Hindu practices.
  • This should probably be listed for deletion - it is completely POV to the point where it cannot even be cleaned up, inaccurate in many places, confuses 1500 BC with the 21st century. See the talk page of the article. --ashwatha 20:46, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)
