The Anderson School, PS 334 is a New York City K-8 public school that offers accelerated NYS curricula to young scholars selected from the city’s five boroughs who have met criteria at the highest levels of intellectual giftedness. Founded as a The Anderson Program in 1986, The NYC DOE designated it a separate school (PS 334) in July 2005. As of the fall of 2006, over 500 students attend Anderson from 72 ZIP codes across New York City (two classes per grade).

Organizations

Anderson is supported by two parent groups:

  • Parents of P.S. 334, Inc. (the "PTA")
  • Friends of The Anderson School, Inc. (FOA) -- a New York not-for-profit corporation that operates as an independent fundraising body for the benefit of Anderson. Funds raised by FOA go to support a broad range of educational programs at the school.

The founders incorporated FOA August 14, 1992. In 1996, the IRS deemed it a public charity under IRC Section 501(c)(3) – Tax ID 13-3698158. FOA annually files an IRS Form 990 (tax return), copies of which, along with other corporate records, are available for review upon request from FOA executives. Copies of the 990s are also available online at [www.guidestar.org] (limited free and premium site). The FOA fiscal year ends July 31. The Board serves for a one-year term, more or less, commencing upon election in September or October. The Board members, one for each classroom, are elected by classroom parents. The Executives are elected by the Board.

Alumni
