User talk:Fennec
NOTICE! I patrol Special:Recentchanges regularly for edits by anonymous IPs. This means that I look at several dozen edits a minute. I don't spend too much time on each one. It's therefore quite possible that I see one that looks suspicious but is in fact valid, particularly if the information added is radically different from the rest of the article, or otherwise unexpected and surprising.
If I've rolled back one of your edits, or an edit which you saw that you feel is valuable, I am sorry: please feel free to reinstate it, and I probably won't notice (but consider dropping a note here and/or on the talk page first, just in case). Thanks for your concern. :)

Sysop
Hard decision, but... Congratulations! You are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. Good luck. Angela. 00:46, Apr 3, 2004 (UTC)
- Congratulations, you fox you! Are you as cute and cuddly as the picture? ;-) Cheers! Cecropia 01:08, 3 Apr 2004 (UTC)

danx ;-} --VegasGrl15 02:49, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)
danx fennec 4 dat welcome page, :0), tell what do the sysops do, nick tells me dat they are like Nazis, is dat true??
- Nope. We're all nice and friendly and help people, protecting pages when people get in edit wars and deleting nonsense junk. You shouldn't have any promlems with the sysops, unless you go around vandalizing pages and breaking the rules... in which case they will block you. See Wikipedia:Administrators for more details.
- Plato is upset at due to what he perceives as a "witch hunt"- that is, with the case of User:Bird, blocking him repeatedly when he changed IP addresses. However, since all those IPs were doing crazy stuff, and clearly identifiable, I'd hardly characterize it as a "witch hunt" myself. --Fennec 05:00, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Howdy Fennec! I really am a Wikipedia user :-) -- Skyfaller 14:10, 2004 Apr 5 (UTC)
Hi. Can you explain why you undo addition of spacing done by my bot? I have noticed this at least on Gorilla and Chimpanzee. Paul Pogonyshev
- Your bot is not registered. I have also blocked your bot. See Wikipedia:Bots for policy on this matter. Furthermore, Taxobox standards do not include such spacing. - Fennec 21:06, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Then taxobox standard is stupid. Especially when justifying is turned on, text placed immediately next to border looks ugly.
- Then discuss in the talk page or another appropriate forum rather than making global wiki-wide changes with an unregistered bot. Fennec 21:33, 6 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Discussion here moved to User talk:62.252.64.10.
Congrats
Congratulations on becoming a sysop. I couldnt earlier vote for you or reply as some personal work kept me away for a while. Neha
It was an old policy, but I guess it's not used anymore. It makes sense to me because it separates {{msg:stub}} from the rest of the article. Yorick, Jester of Elsinore 05:07, 2004 Apr 10 (UTC)
Air Force Space Command is not a copyright violation as it is a copy of a U.S. government page. The U.S. government cannot produce copyrightable works. Rmhermen 13:37, Apr 10, 2004 (UTC)

Finland's status as a "neutral" is an euphemism at best. She was at the brink of being taken over by domestic communists supported by the victors of the Continuation War. It may be theoretically true, but if so, it's a misleading factoid, as it emphasizes less relevant information but supresses the more relevant.
Furthermore, even factoid on a "declaration of war" may be true - or not - but as the relevant link to the Lapland War is missing, and as the relevant dates for the war (September 19th for the commitment, November for start of hot combats, April for conclusion) are omitted (there is, admittedly, not much space) the result of these strange notions is nothing but confusion for the reader.
Please note that I actually did write an edit summary, which in fact can not be said for most edits at this site.
sincerely

- Thanks for your concern. Please note this at the Talk:1945 and Talk:March 3 page, and feel free to reinstate your edit. -Fennec 21:37, 10 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- So I've done - but nothing moves. That's bad style! :-(( /ML
Revert to Jerzy on Time Zone
I don't understand why you reverted to me, rather than reverting me as well as the IP user. IMO the IP is continuing the work i began; at this point in my attention to the matter, i think the IP user(s?) has made good contributions. Would be pleased to discuss. --Jerzy(t) 03:24, 2004 Apr 11 (UTC)
You made not too bad a call, IMO, judging from the IP's cluelessness abt how long it should take to counter-revert. Actually, i'm not surprised on reflection that the IP's changes looked unhelpful:
- IMO it needs even more reformating than the IP could envision (and since then, there's also been more data added which increases the need, and i guess i just nominated myself), and
- the utility of my and their format might be a lot clearer in the areas i worked on (w/ each zone's share of continental US states and the exceptions within them strung out as one unformatted 'graph).
I don't often look at RC (how seldom is suggested by the fact i've only rv-ed Paul Levesque once in 6 months [wink]!), and what i see, just on the articles on my own just-growed-like-Topsy watchlist, proves the need for RC, & makes me regret any possibility of dis-emboldening those who do look at it systematically. Thanks for the response and for your work that led to my note. --Jerzy(t) 03:48, 2004 Apr 12 (UTC)
(spam) I see today you blocked user:Jimbo-Wales. Could you review the recent changes to wikipedia:blocking policy#usernames, which would formally support such blocks, to see if they are to your taste? Thanks. Martin 03:32, 12 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- If Fennec hadn't blocked it, I would have. I think the link you point to above is fine in general, but in a case like this, it's pretty self-evident, and I don't think we need to have to put any sort of justification on the Talk page. RickK 03:35, 12 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Actually three different people blocked that account :) Hence "spam". I wasn't querying the validity of the block (though sure, a few days ago I might have - you have Angela to thank for my change of approach). I'm just interested in feedback on the new policy from those who do block accounts for having inappropriate usernames, which is why I was spamming. Martin 03:52, 12 Apr 2004 (UTC)

oi, Fenfox I have been trying to reason with the anon/cyber-nazi on white seperatist but he seems intent on trolling the page. If you review his contribution history it is rather evident that he has an agenda (one which promotes racism and his POV of the universe) that is antithetical to the goals of wikipedia. Considering he refuses to get a screen name I do not think he should be allowed to continue to push his belief system on the page. I do not really believe he should probably be editing at all, let alone on such a topic in which he is obvisouly trying to further an ideology. GrazingshipIV 15:32, Apr 12, 2004 (UTC)
- I'm not the POV dispute guy. I'm a RC patrol guy. While I'll not hesitate to revert something that's egregiously bad if I see it scroll by on Recent Changes, I'm not interested in engaging in any sort of protracted debate. -- Fennec 15:36, 12 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Fair enough, its gotten to the point of trolling now though. If he keeps it up a block may be in order. GrazingshipIV 15:53, Apr 12, 2004 (UTC)
Dunno why you reversed my edit since Helen Keller was actually a Communist. See http://www.ragged-edge-mag.com/0901/0901ft3.htm 130.15.162.99 16:27, 12 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hope you don't mind my requesting protection for white separatist. AndyL 02:51, 13 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Still I see no improvements.

I see you've blocked Vogel. Congratulations. In the interests of thoroughness here are all the IP addresses he's been using according to Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Paul Vogel:
- 24.45.99.191
- 65.125.10.66
- 66.2.156.* (10, 27, 36, 38, 48, 69, 100, 123)

It is clear that a cabal of censorous pov bigots have falsely accused me of being a "troll", "vandal", or of making "abusive comments" on some TalkPages, or of "breaking the 3-revert rule". This is psychological projection by a pov mob or ilk of lying hypocrites. I do request Sam Spade, to be my "advocate", and I also can provide evidence to demonstrate the fact that those here attempting to have me banned and to have me censored, are themselves "trolls", "vandals", and have themselves broken the 3-revert rule and have hurled "personal insults" and have abused and used slanderous and false personal insults and "abusive comments" as their own stock in trade and in their own pov bigoted and biased campaign of "character assassination".-PV

Well, Jimbo blanks his talk page so can I! Comrade Nick
- Also Fennec I see you delated my comments to you which i view as sneaky and bad, the actual reason why i do is because I don't like a cluttered talk (you must note the changes i put on my user page b/c it was so cluttered).
Birds
Ah, yes.... You'll notice of course I credited you for them. I found the picture on the 'pedia and it looked like a nice image to put atop my Talk page. I hope you don't mind. Are they your own? -- VV 22:43, 23 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Well if I forget to sign, it's simply forgetting. As far as the subst, I'll take that into consideration and study it, to see if I agree with it or not. Thanks. -- Decumanus | Talk 03:17, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- I should note I tend to be particularly frenetic with anons who create spurious pages. I try to get the test message on their talk page before I reflexively update RC, by which time the entry is often deleted, and the anon address is wiped out. It leads to some sloppy things like that. But thanks for the reminder. -- Decumanus | Talk 03:35, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)
You insulted Me!!!
You called me a tweak in your edit summary. Take it back!!! oh, and stop reverting my work on Jesus!!!

I don't understand what was wrong with this article (Special:Undelete/Food taster).. it was short but it seems like it could be improved.. no offense or anything. Evil saltine 03:48, 26 Apr 2004 (UTC)
