Irina Vlah was born on 26 February 1974 in Comrat into a family of employees. She is of [[Gagauz people|Gagauz]] and [[Bessarabian Bulgarians|Bulgarian]] heritage. From 1991 to 1996 she studied at the [[Comrat State University]] at the Faculty of Law.

From 2001 to 2008 she was a doctoral student at the [[Academy of Sciences of Moldova]] and defended her PhD thesis on the topic "The modern concept of the development of the civil service in the Republic of Moldova".

Beginning in 1996, she was a lawyer at a tax inspectorate, and from 2003-2005, she was Head of the Legal Department of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia.

From 2010-2014, she was a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. From 2010 to January 2015, she was a member of the Political Executive Committee of the PCRM.

In 2010, she tried her hand at the elections in Gagauzia, enlisting the support of one-third of the voters in the first round.

Irina Vlah (Romanian: Irina Vlah, Gagauz: İrina Vlah, Russian: Ирина Фёдоровна Влах, romanizedIrina Fyodorovna Vlah; born 26 February 1974) is a Moldovan politician. She served as member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova from 2005 to 2009 and from 2014 to 2015. Since 15 April 2015 she has been the Governor (Başkan) of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (Gagauz Yeri).[1][2]

Career

Irina Vlah was born on 26 February 1974 in Comrat into a family of employees. She is of Gagauz and Bulgarian heritage. From 1991 to 1996 she studied at the Comrat State University at the Faculty of Law.

From 2001 to 2008 she was a doctoral student at the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and defended her PhD thesis on the topic "The modern concept of the development of the civil service in the Republic of Moldova".

Beginning in 1996, she was a lawyer at a tax inspectorate, and from 2003-2005, she was Head of the Legal Department of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia.

Political activities

From 2010-2014, she was a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. From 2010 to January 2015, she was a member of the Political Executive Committee of the PCRM.
