Daughter's Daughter (Mandarin Chinese: 女兒的女兒) is a Taiwanese drama film, directed by Xi Huang and released in 2024.[1] The film stars Sylvia Chang as Aixia Jin, a Taiwanese woman whose daughter Zuer (Eugenie Liu) is killed in a car accident while pursuing in-vitro fertilization treatments in the United States with her girlfriend Zhou Jia-ji (Tracy Chou), forcing Aixia to decide what to do with her daughter's frozen embryo.[2]
The cast also includes Karena Ka-Yan Lam as Aixia's other daughter Emma, with whom she has only recently been reunited after giving Emma up for adoption, and Alannah Ong as her mother Shen Yan-hua, as well as Winston Chao, Kevin B. Ploth, John Tabaniag, Sharon Lyn Chalkin, Charles Huang, Ariella Hyman-Fessler, Rob Legacy, John McGovern, Bridgette Wray, Denny Fisher, Telle Thomas, Joanne Liu and Linda Key-Kanuteh in supporting roles.
The film premiered in the Platform Prize program at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival,[3] where Chang received a special citation from the prize jury for her performance.[4]
