Sierra Leoneans nationwide were shocked and angry to find a civilian Minister of Defence in a military combat. He is definitely not a soldier anymore so wearing a military uniform makes him a fake soldier. Some senior officers in the Sierra Leone Armed Forces called for him to be sacked, but it is unclear wether the government took any actions against him. |

Major General (Ret.) Paolo Conteh is a retired Major General in the The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces and the current Defense Minister of Sierra Leone. While in the Sierra Leone army, he married the niece of the then president of Sierra Leone, Joseph Saidu Momoh. He retired from the military and went on to study Law in the United Kingdom.
