France bans the wearing of all overt religious symbols from state schools. The bill was passed by 494 votes to 36 on the 10th Feruary 2004. This will include the following:

1. The ban the Islamic headscarf - see Islam

2. The Sikh Turban - see also Sikhs

3. The Jewish skullcaps - see Jews

4. Any large Christian crosses - see Christianity
