Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo (currently a redirect to Shangri-La Colombo) → Shangri-La Colombo (move · discuss) – WP:COMMON.
- Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo 75,700 search results.
- Shangri-La Colombo 123,00 search results
Besides proposed name is the name the official nwebsite and facebook page is using. Chanaka L (talk) 10:21, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- Tomb of King Wang Gon is invalid. Must create Tomb of King Wang Gon before requesting that it be moved to Mausoleum of King Wang Kon.– "Mausoleum of King Wang Kon" is the official name.[1] According to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean), "North Korean place names use McCune-Reischauer Romanization". Bamnamu (talk) 23:55, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- KNX (FM) (currently a redirect to KNX-FM) → KNX-FM (move · discuss) – Per naming conventions, US radio station articles are titled at the exact current call sign when possible. This station is KNX-FM, and it has to be since there is a KNX (AM). (While KNX-FM is a past name, in two stints, for KCBS-FM, a hatnote already exists to lead readers in the right direction.) WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 23:41, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Wcquidditch: I have boldly acted to move the page history redirect to KNX-FM (merged) in order to clear the article title KNX-FM for use and moved that page. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 08:39, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
- Heat Waves (song) (currently a redirect to Heat Waves) → Heat Waves (move · discuss) – This particular spelling seems to specifically refer to the Glass Animals song, whilst "heat waves" (note the lowercase spelling) more commonly refers to the climatic trend (thus can and should redirect to heat wave), meaning that a hatnote would be adequate to resolve ambiguity. Sean Stephens (talk) 22:05, 23 December 2021 (UTC) (edited 01:22, 24 December 2021 (UTC))
- Minister for Sport, Multiculturalism, Seniors and Veterans (currently a redirect to Minister for Sport (New South Wales)) → Minister for Tourism and Sport (New South Wales) (currently a redirect instead to Minister for Jobs and Tourism) (move · discuss) – Portfolio title has changed as per Government Gazette and current title is inappropriate. Minister for Tourism and Sport (New South Wales) already exists and currently redirects to Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney. This latter portfolio requires revision and redirection to Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, in due course. Rangasyd (talk) 11:21, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
Administrator needed
- Edit this section if a request requires an administrator (see this guide to which moves need administrators). Place the request in another section if it only requires a page mover's permissions.
- Detention of Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev (currently a redirect to 2014 Kalbajar incident) → 2014 Kalbajar incident (move · discuss) – consensus in RM at Talk:Detention of Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev BegbertBiggs (talk) 23:33, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- Template:Country data Åland Islands (currently a redirect to Template:Country data Åland) → Template:Country data Åland (move · discuss) – Match parent move. Gonnym (talk) 10:58, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
- Fahad Ahmad (activist) (currently a redirect to Fahad Ahmad) → Fahad Ahmad (move · discuss) – WP:CONCISE title was salted, WP:DIFFCAPS and hatnotes serve as proper disambiguation Vycl1994 (talk) 04:00, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
- Michael Peterson (criminal) (currently a redirect to Michael Peterson trial) → Michael Peterson trial (move · discuss) – RM closure (t · c) buidhe 10:25, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- What a Diff'rence a Day Made (currently a redirect to What a Diff'rence a Day Makes) → What a Diff'rence a Day Makes (move · discuss) – error in title, correct name redirects to album currently Hekerui (talk) 17:37, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Hekerui: Probably needs a full RM. According to these recording listings the original English title was as listed, and three out of the five listings still used this title. Someone may want to retarget the album redirect to the song page, though. -2pou (talk) 17:47, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
