If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

  • I.M (rapper) (currently a redirect to I.M) → I.M (move · discuss) – Per Talk:I.M (rapper)#Requested move 14 June 2022. Object, this was a speedy non-admin close which didn't allow full time for discussion and WP:TITLE wasn't discussed. Reopen. In ictu oculi (talk) 15:18, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@In ictu oculi: this discussion ran for 7 days, it was opened on the 14th and closed on the 21st this was not speedy in anyway. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 15:51, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm neutral on the outcome, but how was it a speedy close? Started 14 June 2022 and ended 21 June, so 7 days. Pinging the closer: Mellohi!. If it can't be resolved easily the escalation would be to take it to WP:MR, step 1 of which is discuss on the closer's talk page. -Kj cheetham (talk) 15:52, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I also believe that it wasn't a speedy close (since it ran for the full 7 days). And I see that WP:TITLE was called upon in the RM; the nom implicitly called for concision (by removing the disambiguator) and the supporters cited SMALLDETAILS (which is again part of WP:TITLE) to show that the proposed concise title wasn't ambiguous. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! Contested technical requests

  • Sam Youssef is invalid. Must create Sam Youssef before requesting that it be moved to Hossam Youssef.– Namespace is currently occupied by a redirect to someone with a different name altogether, redirect may have been made to cover possible misspellings but it is now required for a full article on a person with this actual name.
